We’re going to be staying in Grand Cayman next week for a holiday and the satellite pictures all look pretty active! Does anyone know what the extended forecast may be? It looks like torrential downpours now and for at least the next few days. Will all that rain effect water visibility for diving and snorkeling next week? All replies appreciated.

Does anyone know what effect this hurricane will have on the Cayman Islands. We are going to be in Seven Mile beach in a few days and it’s not looking too good for that area. Also concerned about any damage it could do to the coastal areas, restaurants, things like that, and the dive and snorkel sites. If it does hit the Caymans how long will it take for everything to clear up? We’re starting to get a little worried!!!

It’s headed northwest, so it’s as close as it will get.

Thank you for your replies! I feel much better now, as it looks to be heading out to the gulf. Does anyone know if it caused any problems with visibility in the water, or silt, that will effect diving and snorkeling for more than a couple days.

There is still a chance that it may loop back when it hits a front on Saturday. Won’t be a direct hit, but could stir things up a bit.

No diving on west side. No shore diving pretty much anywhere. Went out yesterday on North Wall. It was a little choppy but not bad. Viz is poor but hopefully it will clear up for you in a day or two. Still rainy but not windy. If you can get out to the North Wall do it, seems to be a lot of Eagle Ray activity. Went out there three times and saw multiple eagle rays twice ?
