Your pictures are done very nicely. ?

Welcome to the forum, both Mike and foleary ? ,

Glad you found us and hope that we can help each of you as you countdown towards your upcoming trips! How fun! You are both going quite soon, it looks like.

Mike, to answer your question about snorkeling up towards Plantana, I can’t say for sure, since I’ve never stayed on that part of the 7 Mile Beach, but I think you’re not too far from Cemetary Beach, which is a very popular spot. Also, it wouldn’t be too far to drive up to a spot located at the Cracked Conch restaurant…..has a ladder for easy entry and after swimming out through a little cove, you just swim alongside ironshore…..no sandy beach there, so visibility is good. Sometimes there are currents in that area, but there is a dive shop located right there and they can advise on the currents that particular day and which way they suggest you turn first (in other words, against the current).

I hope that both of you are planning to go to Sting Ray City which is a Must Do event when in the Caymans! We highly recommend Soto’s which is a pretty fast boat, and takes far less people than most of the other operations…..if you book them directly and pay in cash, you will get the discounted price of $30 US per person ($24 CI).

    Good luck with your plans!

Thanks Char. We went to Stingray City last year after chartering the Nautigal with some friends. It definitely is something everyone should do when the get to the Caymans.

I think we are near Cemetery Beach. I remember seeing it last year. We went snorkeling in front of the Governor’s mansion last year and it was pretty good.

I can remember living in our Caymanian home in Hell, West Bay. It had a tin roof and I absolutely loved it when it would storm. Maybe strange, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a very small, and I mean very small, screened in front porch and my hubby and I would sit out there during a storm and, depending on which way the wind was blowing, would just have a blast watching it. If we were getting wet, we would go inside and just listen. We had a newborn at the time and needless to say, the noise from storms never bothered him and to this day still don’t. He will sleep through anything during the night but he will wake at the crack of dawn or before.

I do not get online much anymore but is it such a thrill when I do. Thanks for the pictures and memories.

You are the greatest group of people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

    Penny,

It’s so nice to hear from you again. I’ve always enjoyed hearing about your life on Grand Cayman. Don’t be a stranger!

Thanks! I have missed being here too.

My son, who was born in Grand Cayman, just turned 9. It is so hard to believe. I used to take him everywhere on the beaches.

Once we went to Rum Point on the ferry (when it first opened for business) and I took his “bouncy” seat that had a battery operated vibrator. The poor waiter freaked out when he walked up to take our order and looked down to see my baby “vibrating”. My friends and I had such a laugh

Life does not get any better than Cayman! :dancing:

You can spend a day there and enjoy some of the best snorkeling and shore diving on the island. They offer a day package that includes unlimited snorkeling, shore diving, buffet lunch and drinks ? including liquor, along with complete use of resort facilities for only $45. The underwater terrain in this area is unique and spectacular, in addition to being extremely easily accessible. It?s an excellent and very affordable way to experience a more remote area of the island ? above and below the water.

Cemetery Beach is a good place for beginners to learn and practice snorkeling.
