Absolutely OUTSTANDING trip report, Mike! Love the descriptions and photos – the couch potatoes make me laugh out loud! I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want to join you on a beach walk in the morning…daylight’s burning!

You have wonderful memories with your family – and those are priceless!

you know……..just HAVE to say………that Steve Irwin was with WILD stingrays………NOT the rays that are
“trained” to interact with humans from the early years in Cayman, when fishermen would clean their fish and the rays would come and get a free lunch and grew to trust, and wait for the fishermen and their food. We’re talking apples and oranges here.

Steve also took over their “personal space” by closing in on them and they reacted in the way they have to protect themselves……….and, because of that, we all lost someone who loved non-humans, admired and respected them, more than most of us could ever imagine. That was a horrible event. The stingrays at Stingray City are NOT the same beings………except for the fact that we still MUST respect them, and their space and do NO harm to them……..sorry for the soapbox, but couldn’t help myself.

Hey Mike…Great trip report once again!!! I haven’t been to stingray city for several years but your videos make me want to go back.

The blowholes were great this time. Are they still missing a few stairs to get down to them?

We could never get our kids (or anyone else) to go on the AM walk either. I don’t know what it is about Cayman but I’m always awake by 6 or 7 AM.

TJ…Thank you! The stairs are better than in the past but there are still a few rungs missing. I think what’s there has sunk so it’s closer to the rocks!

Debbie and I are the same way – 6:30 or 7 and wide awake. Don’t want to waste the day in paradise! I had the boys talked into it the last night but in the morning they said “Nah, why ruin the tradition!”

My BIL & SIL walked a couple of times with my daughter but they did it in the afternoon – too hot at that point of the day.

Great report Mike! It looks like you have a wonderful family that enjoys being together. It’s so nice that you’ve made new friends from your trips and have your brother and sister-in-laws family with you. We are hoping to go down next March and your report and others on this site have given us a lot of ideas!

One more question. You mentioned you bought some Waterford items. How were the prices and is there a Waterford store?

Thanks CL! We always have a great time when we’re together! I can never get my BIL & SIL to go home!! :drinking:

The Waterford was about 30% cheaper than the prices up here. It was definitely a good deal. It was a Waterford shop down one of the side streets in downtown Georgetown. I think it was called the Waterford/Wexford shop.

Is it difficult to post pics? Im hoping to do a nice trip report becasue my husband takes wonderful pics with our camera? Is there a place on this forum that instructs how to post pics? Theres just so much info here. I love it

    #55785

No, it’s not hard to post pictures here, once you get the hang of it.

    There are some pretty good instructions here…http://www.caymanactivityguide.com/forums/images/ButtonHere.gif” alt=”” title=”” class=”bbcode-image” />

When you return from your trip, just give it a try, and if you have trouble, just ask. We can help!

piglvr…it’s a learning experience! It’s probably much easier than I originally made it out to be. But once you figure it out, it’s a snap! Kind of like the proverbial light bulb going off over your head!!
