Your passport should be able to be tracked online. If you don’t see it around the timeframes they have posted, call. I would not have known that they potentially have my name spelled wrong
When you do get a person on the phone, there is not much they can do for you unless you are 14 days or less from your trip. They are contracted out. They can just call up your info and let you know it’s in process. But at least you know. Kim’s previous phone tips were a lifesaver. There is a really long message on the front end of their calls. Then you finally get there sometimes and it says no one can get to your call, please call back. Don’t hang up. Press 9 to get back to the main menu and press 3 to get back in line. It works!
I called the offices of my congressman and a senator to get some help. I felt like I was being very bold. I don’t like to call for pizza sometimes – I can be phone shy.
The Congressman’s staff person was truly nice and helpful. However, I already had the ball rolling with someone in the Senator’s office. They don’t like it when multiple offices are checking on the same passport. So if you get ahold of one office, let it go at that. They seem like they don’t want to be involved until you are 14 days from your trip, either. They have made an exception for me since it seems like I am in jeopardy of getting a passport with my name misspelled.
Be aware, it is still taking the 2-4 days for the passport folks to get back on Congressional inquiries. Make sure you call ASAP if you hit the 14 day mark!!
I will update when I know more. Hopefully by Tuesday – my 14 day mark.

I think it might have worked! Please keep them crossed until we are out of the woods…
I just checked my status online for the 4,786th time. I used my REAL last name, and it finally came up!
However, they are stating that it will be here within 10 weeks of application. That will be 4/27.

I’m writing from the floor, because I just fell off my chair!
I just checked my passport status again – I told you I check compulsively.
There is a Priority Mail Delivery Confirmation number on my info page now! I am still holding my breath until it’s in my hands, but I’m a bit less anxious.
Diana – keep up the good work!
It could just be a coincidence that my passport was ready at the same time that I called the Senator’s office, but I doubt it. To finally have it show up after being there seven weeks, and then have a delivery confirmation the next morning seems far too efficient for the Passport Agency!
If your passport can’t be confirmed online after the the time frames they give (I think it’s 4 weeks now) I would suggest you call the Passport Info Center.

WHAT GREAT NEWS
You will be on your way to paradise very soon.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Heidi
That is wonderful news! I know how you feel…I was there a few weeks ago. Please post when you have them in hand!
Cayman…here you come!
Kim
It has my name spelled correctly!
Now I can start freaking out about packing for our first big trip with the boys!
On a serious note, I must give my sincere thanks to Caymantwins for posting about her passport issues. I would have NEVER thought to call my Congress-folk if it were not for her. I must also say thank you to Senator Lugar’s office.
Cayman, here I come!

Have a wonderful time-I can only imagine how stressed you must have been. I would have been in such a state!!
shelly ?
I am posting this to update/confirm the current processing times. Our daughter’s initial passport arrived in exactly 10 weeks (to the day) from the date of application. Both my and my husband’s renewals arrived in 9 weeks and 1 day from the date of application.
Remember, you must first have that certified birth certificate in order to submit your application, and that takes several weeks to receive itself. So don’t delay!

Allison – I am SOOOOO happy for you! That is wonderful news and I’m sorry that I haven’t commented until now – I haven’t been able to be on the board much the last few weeks.
ENJOY YOUR TRIP and I’m SOOOOO happy that you called your Senator’s office and got it done!
jbradford – I’m so happy that you got your passports too! I know how stressful it was for me and now you can go enjoy your vacation!!!
Congratulations on your marriage-Honeymoons are always wonderful-no matter the date. Have a great time . Sorry I can’t help you on the passport information. I’m just so happy that we already have ours .
Shelly ?
Initially the passport website did give us an estimated arrival date. As they apparently became more backed up, they changed it to “your passport will arrive within 10 weeks”.
When checking online one day it said that my passport had been mailed, and both my and my husband’s arrived within a few days. When checking our daughter’s online, it never did say that it was mailed……it just arrived in the mail one day even though the website stated it was still being processed.
