For instance, what does a six pack of the local beer cost.
What bourbons are available, approx. price?
Scotch?
Clos du Bois?
Thanks for all of your help!
Thank you for all of our postings on this matter. I am curious as to the approx. price difference of duty-free and buying on the island with the discount. I have heard and read so much about how very expensive everything is in the Caymans.

The local beer, “Caybrew” is actually a little less than that^.
I was picking up 2 six-packs at Big-daddy’s liquor for around $15
I’m leaving on Monday! I cant’ believe it. Is a case of Caybrew $60 as well? We will be staying across the street from an IGA grocery store and wondered about the price of beer there. I’m a beer drinker! I also see that Caybrew gives as much as $2 CI back on the return of a case of beer bottles. That would seem to be a good way to offset some of the price, if you are willing to drive your empties back to the brewery. One last thing, is it cheaper to buy beer at the Caybrew brewery or at the grocery store?
You cannot buy beer/alcohol at the grocery stores in Cayman-have to go to the liquor stores. I think Caybrew is a little cheaper than the rest of the beers.
Shelly ?
about not being able to buy beer at the grocery stores. I’m glad you let me know that however.
There is a liquor store across from the Reef
My husband and I are leaving for Cayman in 2 days. I would like to bring 3 bottles of wine and 2 bottles of “spirits” (premixed margaritas and a bottle of rum). Are we going over the duty free limit with those since we only have 2 people over 18? Thanks for your help! I’ve been doing a lot of reading and research-you guys are great.
Welcome to the forum jsuztraveler ,
Not sure what size wine bottles you are thinking about bringing in, but I think that you will be just over your duty free limit…..each adult (over 18) is allowed to bring in EITHER four liters of wine OR 1 liter of spirits OR 1 case of beer.
It’s not worth the savings if you have to pay duty, so don’t take the chance.

Bummer! I figured that but was hoping maybe a little over wouldn’t be a big deal, or the margarita mix wouldn’t count as a full “spirit”. Thanks for your input.
We are flying from Pittsburgh to Charolette then the camayns. Are you saying i could buy some alcohol in Charlotte and take in my carry on or should i just pack it from home and try to get plastic bottles. We are arriving on a Sunday and i am sure we would like to have some alcohol in our room till we can get to the store thereFrom what i am reading no liquir stores open on Sundays.
Acataline, I would buy it duty free at the Charlotte airport. They will hold it until you board. Like everyone has said on this board, liquor and beer is very expensive if you buy on the Island. I like my beer but I never bring it…to much trouble for me….Since they have just had an increase on the liquor tax…I’m expecting to pay about US $60 per case for beer. I’ll let you know if 19 days…..KMAN soon come!
Along with the increase on liquor they also had an increase on cigarettes. The added $2.10 per pack to the already high price! So, I can’t wait to see what liquor is on the Island.
Okay…a 12 pack of Miller Lite is $26.24 US A bottle of the house Reisling at the Wharf was $100 US.
At these prices you would expect a few stills to spring up. Next it will be Al Capone’s Ghost to be bringing it in at nite.
