Here’s an update on the new NY/GC Cayman Air service:

    Quote:

Starting June 23, 2007, National Flag Carrier, Cayman Airways, will begin non-stop service from Grand Cayman to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The three weekly flights will leave New York on Thursday, Sunday and Monday at 9AM and depart Grand Cayman on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 4:10PM.

Here’s an update on Cayman Air service to chicago from Cayman Netnews-too bad we couldn’t wait around for this

There has been some criticism that CAL hasn?t loaded its Chicago schedule yet for the peak winter.

?What we?re trying to do is actually look at it more globally in terms of being able to operate Chicago year?round,? he said.

A decision had previously been made at Cayman Airways to make Chicago a winter?only flight, but Mr. Wrightington said that doesn?t make sense.

?It?s a very strong market and what we?re trying to do is develop a better relationship with United Airlines, because that?s their major hub. We?re working with them right now and then will be posting our schedule?

He hopes this can be operational by November, and that once it is, it can be operated on a year?round basis, with at least two trips a week.

    Shelly ?

P.S. that will be nice, but if they don’t post their schedules in a more timely manner, people will make other reservations-particularly during the holidays when it’s hard to get a seat.

We booked our party of five for April 2008 with Cayman Air from JFK in NY direct to Grand Cayman and the ticket price is excellent.

The problem is that the airline tried to cancel with us once and they changed our flight plan two times already. We have already booked lodging and will be paying for at least a day more than we will be there due the the airline changes. We are really hoping there are no more changes! :spin:

    Wow Jute

That is really annoying-you would figure if you were flying direct, that you’d be pretty well set -not a good way to get repeat customers

OMG Jute – that sounds SO familiar. We booked in April for our trip next month. Got a great fare. Found out in July they took us off our flight and tried to put us into Miami w a connection to NYC. (one person told us a computer error caused it another said it was schedule changes – sounds like BS to me). Luckily I called and got us on a flight for the next day but I later found out our flight was still there and other people booked it up ? ? Good news, an extra day on Cayman… Bad news, paying out of pocket for another night of hotel and car for their screw up. I doubt I will be flying CAL in the future.

WE ARE TRAVELING NOV 22/29. ANYONE HEARD OF ANY GOOD TICKET DEALS?

Does anyone know if and when Cayman Airways will be resuming Chicago service?

    #51456

Sad to say, I doubt that they will resume that route. But if they do, it won’t be until November at the earliest. CAL is under a lot of financial pressure, as are all airlines. It will be difficult to justify restarting a service that has never come close to breaking even.
