If the forecast is for North East winds (25 – 30), I’m hoping that it won’t effect SMB too badly. Any opinions on that? We almost changed our plans, but our 8yr old daughter said that she would rather go to GC with bad weather than St. Thomas with good weather! So, I guess we go back to GC. We’ll be at the Marriott Beach Resort Wednesday afternoon! Wish we could schedule a month too like Shelly – maybe in the future!
I will be on North Side, and facing the big breeze, but not to worry. Been vacationing there since 1975, so I know how to fill the hours!
Well, you must be just about home by now and it appears as though you arrived just in time for the northwester-which started kicking up on Wed. and Thur and Fri were cold and cloudy. If we’d been on SMB we would have been jumping waves
We’ll have been here for 4 weeks and sad to say for you those were the only 3 days that the weather was not perfect. Hope you managed to find something to do. We went to the Botanic Garden and the Pirate Caves with the grandkids to keep them occupied for part of the day.
You’ll have to try Cayman again—couldn’t possibly happen to you 3 times in a row.
shelly ?
We went to the gardens too (Thursday) and also made our daily trip to the butterfly farm. We did alittle wave jumping at Smith’s cove too. We meet a bunch of great people at the hotel and had a few good meals (Pappagallo’s & the Wharf). Having a car the entire time also made a big difference, especially when the weather was bad.
Wanted to extend the visit for a day, but couldn’t get the flights changed to today! We definitely learned our lesson that three days is not enough. We’ll be back for a week next time! Enjoy the rest of your stay! Deb
Glad to hear you made the best of it—yes-a week would probably be good. Even if you hit bad weather, it wouldn’t last that long. I agree-it’s always better down here, no matter the weather, than it is at home.
Did you leave on Sunday? Our son left then too, but his AA flight was delayed about 3 hours and he missed his connection and had to spend the night in Miami-I hope he got home today-haven’t heard from him yet. Of course, the airlines said it was weather related, so no compensation I would guess. Can’t wait to get a full report from him
Better luck to you next year!

Well I’m unpacked and the wash is done, but my daughter and I are going to Disney for a long weekend on the 17th, so I just have to repack. Maybe the sun will shine on me then! Shelly – have a safe flight home and maybe we’ll run into each other next trip! Thanks – Deb
Funny that you’re off to Disney next week. Last year I went to Disney for a long weekend with my daughter’s family-got home on Monday and left for 3 weeks in Cayman on thursday—I’m not the greatest traveler, and amazed myself with 2 trips so close together. It was cool when we were in Florida last year, but I had taken enough layers so I didn’t freeze. Actually I thought it was better to do Disney when it was cool-I’ve been there when it’s hot and it really wears you out.
Have fun with Mickey and Minnie!
