Hi,

Been attempting to upload a photo avatar from my computer, so far, no luck. I understand it has to be properly sized, which I have done. It seems to upload, but does not display. Any suggestions, or does it just take some time?

Thanks, Mike

Heymikey - You should be able to upload an avatar from your computer unless it is too large. Are you sure it's RGB and not CMYK? If you want, EMAIL it to me and I'll post it for you. Wink

It is possible to upload avatars in the normal way now. For a while it was giving an error message and not working. If there are any troubles with this please let me know, here or in a pm.

Avatars are limited in size and must be gif, jpg, or png.

Just in case there is a SIMPLE solution I thought I'd ask the computer gurus this question.

It seems that all the photos I have on my computer are too large for an avatar (4 MB) - is there any EASY way to resize them?

Hi Becka,

Most of us use a site called photobucket that resizes our pictures for message boards automatically. I skimed through the topic "How to Post an Avatar" here in this forum that your post is in.....and picked up this very nice description of how to do it that pjl posted some time ago.

Quote:

go to the photbucket wesbite. Add your photo(s). then go to the HTML button. It will give you various options. Select the picture, go to the one that says "generate HTML and IMG Code". Click on that. Go to the section that indicates IMG Images for message boards. Click on that link and then right click. Click on "copy" Then go to this site and click on profile. Paste the site on the URL space but DELETE the "stuff" before http: and after jpg. Should look like [IMG]

Hope this helps! It worked for me!

Believe it or not, you're not the first person to ask this question :-D

I've got to go now, but if you still have trouble, I'm sure others will help you....

There appears to be problems again with the avatars. I deleted mine and tried to add Tracy's to see if it would work and it did not .... so I tried to add my old one back and now it isn't showing up ... We'll discuss it and see where the glitch may be ....
