Here are a few answers to your questions.

Power outlets are the same as the States. No converter needed.

I was there last week and there are pharmacies in the grocery stores, but nothing like cvs or walgreens. We did before we went called our health insurance companies to see if we would be covered. My husband and I have different companies and both of us was covered. There is a public hospital, and private hospital. Also I looked in the new resident guide that my cousin sent to me and had good info about hospitals. I also don’t think you would have a problem in finding a dr because there is a medical school on the island. My cousin is attending there. It is called St. Mathews. Also the pharmacy at the Fosters in the Strand Plaza along 7 mile beach across the Meridian is a nice pharmacy. It is just like what you would find here in the states.

    Hope this helps.

    Marriott:

Checked in around 3 and were having cocktails at their beach bar 10 minutes later. We read the Activity Guide cover to cover and fine tuned our itinerary. The Marriott (beach resort, not the other one) exceeded all expectations… every bit as beautiful as the pictures and reviews. Had only 1 small problem with one of the discounts but they fixed it, PLUS gave us 2 for 1 tickets to their luau dinner show on top of that! :martini: :rose: :martini:

    Hello all!

I am new to this forum and in the process of planning a trip to the Cayman Islands for February 2011 (Presidents week).I will do my diligence on this board and hopefully not try to ask questions that have already been asked.

The first question I do have is this. Our family of four is going to stay at the Marriott and for a trip like this, we do want to splurge a little more. With that being said, how much ocean view do you really get from the Marriott “Partial ocean view” rooms as opposed to a “Full view ” room?

    Thanks for the info!

My wife and I have been to the marriott twice in the last 7 months and are returning in november. The ocean views are facing the beach, the partial ocean views are on the side of the hotel. May not be a good idea if you want to see the beatiful sunsets. Also when requesting a room ask for one on the upper floors much better views. Have a great trip the island is great.

We just got back and loved the Marriott. Everything there was first class, the rooms, the service, the people. They are walking distance across the street to a lot of good restaurants, shops, mini marts… Definitely do their beach buffet!

We just had the most awesome vacation ever at the Marriott on Seven Mile Beach. The service, food, and all the excellent amenities made this one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at.

Our thanks to Activity Guide for helping us choose the Marriott.

    We’ll be back!………………..

Echo that! Thanks to the Activity Guide for helping make our decision to stay a the Marriott. It was one of the nicest resorts we’ve been to.

The Marriot in Grand Cayman is an excellent resort. It had all the amenities of the other resorts we checked and much lower rates.

There is a beach there, as Joe described. It was never very crowded and there’s miles of beach in that area.

The restaurants at the Marriott were all top notch, including their dinner show.

We will return to the Marriott again.

We absolutely loved the Marriott. We stayed at the Westin on a previous trip and took your advice. We really were expecting somewhat of a downgrade as the Westin has much higher rates. But after being to both, we would go back to the Marriott over the Westin even if the prices were the same. Everything looked new, service was better, food was at least as good. We’ll be going back to the Marriott.

Looking for reviews to determine which is better – marriott or westin.

    Thanks in advance.

We’ve stayed at both the Marriott and the Westin.

    They are both terrific resorts.

The Westin has a bigger beach and smaller rooms than the Marriott.

The Marriott has lower prices and does not hide as many costs as the Westin.

The Marriott has better food for lower prices than the Westin.

The Westin is closer to the central part of Seven Mile Beach than the Marriott.

The Marriott is walking distance to many more restaurants and other shops than the Westin.

We prefer the Marriott over the Westin.

    Hope this helps!

The Marriott is very nice and the staff is very accommodating. The beach is very crowded and you need to get up early to reserve a spot. Have never stayed at the Westin but walk past it every morning on our beach walk. The beach seems to have more room than the Marriott Beach probably because it’s at a wider part of SMB.
