    Great photos!!

These pictures only make me want the week to be over. My wife, “Rumcake”, and I will be sitting at Rum Point in just a few more days.

I can hardly tolerate the cold & snow after looking at these. . .

Just wonderful Joe! (Happy sigh ) 😀 We just love the drive around the island to the East End. I am a little concerned however that you are letting our secret out. I’m about to get a bumper sticker that says “Welcome to the East End, Now Go Home!” :palm: (Just kidding of course.)

Welcome Hyenuf and thank you. 😀

This is one of my favorite areas near the Lighthouse. Every time I pass by it has a different feel, depending on the time of day and sea conditions. These were taken later in the afternoon when the light was reflecting through the waves and casting strong shadows on the rocks.

The area is not conducive to swimming but it’s one of my favorite places to stop and relax, gaze at the sea and ruminate about the things that are really important in life.

This type of scenery is common in Northside.

    Joe,

Those pictures of Rum Point are gorgeous! We were just there one week ago today, so looking at your pictures and thinking about what a fun, relaxing day we had there is just killing me!

I took many of the same shots that you did, even of the parrot, but mine don’t compare whatsoever to yours! :parrot: You have a wonderful camera and such a knack for composing your pictures!

    Thanks!

LOved the Rum Point pix joe. I definitely intend to have a picnic lunch there at least once. We usually have eggs in the condo with coffee in the morning and pack sandwiches and a bottle of wine in a cooler and look for a picturesque setting for lunch. THat way, we can afford to treat ourselves to the Lighthouse, Pappagallo’s, etc for dinner.

I Imagine we will do a bit of snorkeling, have lunch and enjoy the view. Since I will consume two glasses of wine, I won’t be able to drive for two hours. Oh well, I guess i’ll just sit down in a hammock and wait. Sounds like heaven. There WILL be such a photo in my trip report.

Here’s the old Caymanian house at the Botanical Park. You can usually go inside but it was locked up the day I shot these so I only got the outside.

In the old days, they used to plant medicinal plants in the sand gardens in front of the house, well before manicured lawns and imported flowers started arriving from Miami. To this day, many people – myself included, grow plants for medicine, such as sour sop and aloe.

Thanks Celine. 😀 We have a Bird of Paradise growing in our back yard but it’s not nearly as nice as that. It looks more like a ‘turd’ of Paradise.

Here’s some more from the Botanical Park. The colors there change so frequently, every time I go it’s like a different place. I am going back in a couple of weeks when the cherry blossom orchids should be in full bloom. They are a spectacular colorful sight and Cayman’s national flower.

    Joe,

Beautiful pictures and thanks for sharing them…. Did you ever get your Nikon D70 back from Cathy Church? Were you using a replacement D70 for those shots? Use a macro auto setting or manual? Thanks again.
