Hey All.

I have been sifting through the wedding thread, and haven't quite found my answewr yet, so I'll go ahead and start a new topic. I am planning on proposing to my lovely girfriend whie on vacation here, but I want a nice special place to do it. I'd love to do it a location with breathtaking scenery. Any Recomendations from those who know their way around?

Thanks!

Do you want to do it at a lovely dinner overlooking the water? Perhaps Grand Old House or the Wharf?

shelly :-)

That wouldn't be a bad start...I might do it on a sunset horse ride! What do you think?

You might go to Smith's cove to watch the sunset if you want somewhere a bit more secluded. There might be a few people there, but probably not very many.

You replied just as I did! The ride might work, too. I've never really ridden horses, so just the ride might make me a bit on edge. I would contact Pampered Ponies to see what they could help you arrange. I know people have said that sometimes they have to postpone due to various conditions. You may also want to keep that in mind. I know that once I had my mind set on a day to propose I would want it to happen then. If you're more laid back than me you may still be OK. Wink

pbland001,

Based on your location, I'm assuming you're in the military??? If so, you are definitely in need of some R&R and Cayman will be perfect for you!

Congrats on your upcoming proposal. I think Hemingway's has a very interesting option for you....I've never tried this, but it looks very romantic. If you contact them ahead of time, and explain what you're up to, maybe they would get you a private table.

Hope this helps with options!

Jen

Jen,

That sounds like a remarkable idea, I'm calling them tonight to see about what they can do! Yes, I'm currently deployed, and the vacation and proposal are a suprise to my girfriend.

Where in Southern Ohio are you from?

I'm from Akron, and my girlfriend is at OSU!

Glad to meet a neighbor!

Thanks so much for your ideas, hopfully I'll be able to take her breath away, and I won't be to scared to pop the question at the right time! =)

Just an update... haven't heard from hemmingways yet, but I'm also looking for a good place at Rum Point. What's a good time that everything starts to slow down there?

You have a lovely idea! Strangely enough our youngest daughter and her husband and family now live on Grand Cayman and he proposed to her on a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas - after a very complicated ruse involving her boss, a conference she had to attend in Orlando and would be met at the airport kind of thing. She knew something was up when he met her at the airport rather than a rep from Merrill Lynch Smile

To be honest, I'd rent a car and go way out past West Bay, past the Pampered Ponies and just go on to a beach with a cooler and a bottle of champagne and the ring.

Good luck and much happiness! Maybe you can go back to Cayman and get married there.

We are a little town called Hillsboro - about an hour northeast of Cincinnati and 1.5 hours due south of Columbus - Go Bucs!

Hope the Hemmingway's thing works out for you....don't worry about getting nervous for the proposal - it will be perfect no matter how you ask!

pbland001,

I kind of like the romantic 'champagne on the beach' idea. But anything on Grand Cayman would be great.

Of course, being a East End fan, I like Portofino's and the Lighthouse at Breakers if you'll be doing a restaurant. Perhaps the waiter can bring the engagement ring in a glass of champagne!

Be sure to keep us posted and post a report.

Thanks for serving our country. Stay Safe!

Yours,

Dive Sergeant
