We have getting married in April '08 at the Ritz and we're looking for a band. We want someone who can play music people will dance to....a range of Sinatra, Bennett, etc with some motown, current music....does anyone have any recommendations.....are most of the bands on the island basically just caribbean music....it's such a huge part of having a great reception that I want to be sure that the music makes people want to dance......Thanks for your help!

Of course the bands play Caribbean music, its THE CARIBBEAN! The Ritz is not really all that Caribbean though, just happens to be on the island but really more of a monstrosity and eyesore than anything else. I just saw it a few weeks ago, or better to say could not help but avoid it! And now I see they bought the golf course for just their precious guests to use, keeping everybody else out. Go and enjoy what makes Cayman what it is. Its about the people, their friendly laid back personalities, their music, their lifestyle. If you are looking for an American pop band in a highrise hotel you should get married in New York or somewhere.

kimandoyle,

Congrats on the upcoming wedding in paradise! Cayman is a wonderful place to get married, we renewed our vows almost 7 years ago on the beach. Very special!

As for help finding the type of band you are looking for, I would recommend that you contact Celebrations. They can help you with any of your wedding planning needs, especially when it comes to music!

For some reason my link to the Celebrations Wedding topic isn't working right. So, if you go into the wedding section you will find information on Celebrations towards the top of the search list, it is marked with a thumbtack.

I hope this helps to answer your question. Best wishes!!

:palm:

I dont know if I can give out their phone number but we used Heat for our wedding, May 06. They were fantastic. They play a great range of fun music and had our whole group of 36 dancing all night. They even let some of our guests play the instruments (while not very good of course).

Clive Rosteing is the manager of the band and also plays drums and various other instruments.

jrenfrow - Thank you for suggesting Heat, I agree they would be perfect. You are not allowed to post any contact information but kimandoyle could probably arrange it through Celebrations, along with many other wonderful selections to make for the most incredible and memorable wedding imaginable. Wink

Thanks for all of the information. We actually heard Heat while we were on the island and liked their sound. Does anyone know anything about Impulse? Thanks again!

I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for where we might rent a keyboard? We have some friends who are musicans and would like to play for our ceremony, but we need to rent a keyboard and I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
