Tideman - well that really depends on what hurricane season does, they are predicting a less active year this year, 16 storms down from 25 or some such numbers but December is traditionally a gorgeous month here, actually from December through March to April is fantastic. We locals considered this past December rather cold for us meaning it was dipping down into the low 70's! Very Happy You may find the odd Nor'Wester coming through during that time frame but over all it should be bright, sunny, breezey and lovely but the best thing to do is to check back when it gets closer to your arrival time. Water temps should be around 80 to 82 degrees at surface and at 100 feet.

Now to the important details, where are you staying, have you arranged for a car rental (check out Andy's for a great discount) have you picked your activities? Have you checked out our "must do" list, come on now we want details!

Cindy Lou

Hello Cindy Lou,

We're staying at Morritts Tortuga. Have rented a car from Andy's. Getting in at about 4:00pm on Saturday the 2nd of December. After picking up the car at Andy's, thinking about going all the way to East End for groceries at Fosters to avoid the larger crowds on Saturday. How late does the new Fosters stay open. Do need to pick up a bottle of rum and some beer though, so need advice on which liquor store on the way to East End. Would love to see the must do list. We're planning on relaxing, snorkeling, etc. Is the BFM show worth the price ($40)? Which restaurants do you recommend for high end, middle, and lower end for lunch and dinner? Will probably do breakfast in the condo.

Thanks for the advice.

Tideman (Roll Tide Roll).

Great to hear December weather is good! We're coming 12/22 - 28 and my teenage daughter mainly wants to work on her tan at the beach - so glad I'll be able to report warm temps! Denise

Hello everyone. I love checking out your site. This is my first post. I have visited Grand Cayman twice via cruise ship, but we have planned our first vacation there. Me and my husband are traveling with another couple. We are staying through our time share at Plantation Village on Seven Mile Beach. My husband likes to golf and I am a diver, so any suggestions on either would be appreciated. Anyone who know what the weatherwater temp is like during that time? Suzanne

Hi Suzanne, welcome...

If your an owner at Plantation Village I bet your glad they are finally back in business!!!! If you got that in an exchange, then good for you!!! clapping

Here is a short topic regarding the weather... ......

I'm not sure on the golf, but as for diving you might want to try Neptunes divers, I hear they are top-notch and get great reviews... another one close to The Plantation is Don Fosters who have a shop at the Comfort Suites... Eden Rock down in George Town is also close and convenient...

You might want to snoop around in the Diving Forum and also check the Trip Reports forum.... you may see something that looks interesting...

Have a Great Day!!!

Thanks for the weather link and I will check out the Diving Forum. I have plenty of time to look around before our trip.

We actually did get an exachange at Plantation Village so we were lucky. spin I did see that they just recently re-opened and had extensive reconstruction/remodeling so I am looking forward to seeing the place. I am sure you will hear from me again, soon.

While living in South Florida I completely understand how storms come and go and I, on many occasions have seen it raining across the street and not in my front yard....

However I am finally glad to see the sun out this morning in Cayman. Based on the webcams (I check about every two hours) not only has the weather been bad the surf has been very rough. So glad to see it back to "normal" and hears to hoping it stays that way for another 2 weeks Cheers

I know you say not to worry about the scattered showers symbol, but wanted to check in with anyone actually in the Caymans - what is the weather really like? We'll be there 12/22 - 12/29 and looking for lots of beach time! - denise

Not sure where you are coming from..... but how bad can it be????? We were in Aruba a couple of years ago and it rained nearly every day- for 10-20 minutes! Not a problem! Hope it's nice to you too :-) .

sundance,

The Royal Palms webcam on the upper left of every page is a LIVE shot, so you can instantly tell how the weather is.

I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Have a great trip!

Sundance,

My wife and I just returned from Cayman. Virtually the weather forecast is either 30% or 60% chance of rain whether it is 2 days or 10 days out. The forecast just does not matter. Plan on getting rain some of the time. It moves in and moves out. About the only thing it messes up is your tanning time. If you see clouds moving in put on a 15 sunblock. No clouds put on a 30 sunblock...that or just pull up the umbrella up over your chair when it rains and then put it down when the rain moves out or better yet move to the bar for 10 minutes to freshen up your drink.

No need to be worried about something you have no control over.

Have a blast...we did.

That's why I like diving. Rain or shine, you're gonna get wet.

Hello sundance! wave

I have read in several posts concerning weather on the island, just because it calls for rain does not mean you will actually see any or it probably won't stay for long unless a tropical storm is in the area, I have shortcut to a link below to hopefully clarify this...Hope this helps.
