I have been checking the weather for next week, shows showers every day.I know that changes daily, but oh jeez, I need some sunshine. At least I'll be there and not home, enjoying my rum drinks. Cheers

ralphy57,

Although October is the rainiest month, I recall reading here that the showers are not longlasting. Check Joe's post 10 day forecast

Even if it does rain a little when you are there, you are right, it beats the heck out of being home. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you. And toss back a few cold rum drinks for those of us that are not there. Cheers

Ralphy,

Our weather forecast showed thundershowers almost every day as well last week, but it didn't rain the whole time. We did everything we wanted to except get burned (which we really didn't want to do THAT. . .).

I bet you'll be fine. Better a rainy day in Cayman than just about anyplace else with just about any other kind of weather!

Sue

I just have to stop checking the weather. If I need to use sunscreen that means I should come home with tan, yippee. The cayman islands website shows sun and showers, my son told me to stop checking everyday. I should listen to him, since weathermen are barely right these days, a job where you can make daily mistakes. Must continue packing, now I hope I can fit all the luggagein the rental car.

ralphy57......the first year we were going to spend a glorious week on the island, I did the same thing.......checked the weather EVERY day, in several places.....and they all had thundershowers for EACH DAY........AND...we didn't get a drop of rain the entire week!

It's nothing we can do anything about anyway, and it takes some of the excitement out of your 5 days left.......stop looking at it! sun

You will come home with a tan or sunburn, guaranteed!

CELINE, you are wonderful. I now keep mulling over how to get the luggage to comfort suites. My son might have to take a taxi with the 2 big dive bags. With 4 adults and 2 kids and probably 9 or 10 pieces of luggage ,Yikes, gotta have those carry on bags for all that rum Razz

My husband can't deal with my stressing anymore, I better stop or he'll tell me to stay home Crying or Very sad

If you look at the weather forecast for virtually any tropical island it will call for some chance of scattered showers most of the time. This is because isolated showers are common in the tropics and they are typically brief, followed by lots of sunshine. sun

Unless there is a tropical disturbance in the immediate area, most of your days will be sunny and warm. The Satellite Images will usually provide a good indication of any inpending storms. I just looked and I don't see any significant features in the area. Very Happy

I am returning home later today after being away for almost a month and I'll give you a first-hand weather report tomorrow.

I also was concerned with the weather for our first visit to GC. The Weather Channel showed a good chance of rain for the entire week (and the day we were to be there). The day we were there, it was beautiful, and when it did cloud over and sprinkle (in the late afternoon), it was really nice. The shower itself lasted only 15 minutes or so, and then blew off across the water. We were hot and the gentle ran really felt good! Then it was gone...

glad to help ralphy57! odd name for a female though rolllaugh We have very often seen the larger vans at the airport that will accomodate ALL of you AND your luggage, without having to wear it all for the ride to Comfort Suites! :-D

Don't worry........be happy.....just picture turquoise waters, swaying palms, first class dining, and mucho rum everytime you start to stress......you're talking to the stress pro here, and I'm FINALLY learning it doesn't seem to change things, just adds additional problems.......and grey hair (temporarily Rolling Eyes )

Celine, right again, stressing does no good, just causes that extra cayman sunset or mudslide. My real name is Laurie, got my nickname from drinking to much jungle juice about 26 years ago. It stuck with me that long. That's all my hubby calls me, I think he forgot my name. Bash I absolutely love this site, makes me feel I have friends out there. 4 days and counting butterfly

ralphy57,

Now, I think you have the right attitude... not stressing on the weather or luggage and focusing on cayman sunsets and mudslides. Smile

Why fret over weather advice from someone who predicts 50% chance of rain.. or partly sunny... or partly cloudy... what the heck does that mean... other than someone hedging their bets. Bash

Also consider that GC is surrounded by water... beautiful blue water of countless shades of blue.... Cool

You will be in a bathing suit... spending your days in the water ... whether the pool or the big blue sea.... getting wet on the outside... drinking cayman sunsets or mudslides or.... and getting wet on the inside...

So even if it does rain... what happens.... you get more wet..... Wink

Therefore, my only advice is to make sure you raise your umbrella ...

in your cocktail... so it doesn't get watered down... Cheers

That is hilarious!!! I bet if he did call you Laurie you would wonder who the heck he was talking too!!

My wife calls me Jack.... real name is Chris!!! she has called me Jack for so long, (I think it started out as Jack-Ass and got shorter over the years), that when she does call me Chris I get very confused....

We have the same weather forecast thing here in Florida. thunderstorms every day, and not a cloud in the sky.... although for the last 2 days it has been raining pretty steady...

Hope you enjoy your vacation....

Have a Great Day!!!
