Confused we are visiting GC for the 1st time at the end of next week and I'm a little worried about the weather this time of year (August). Where should I look to see the best forecast for planning what to bring/wear and if there is a storm coming...? palm

Welcome to the forum, TheWbQn Smile ,

I think probably the best source for weather forecasts is probably the link that is provided in this thread

Have a wonderful trip, and don't worry about the weather! Even if it does rain, it often only rains for a few minutes of the day.

TheWbQn,

I agree with Scubachar - don't worry about the weather. The day we left Atlanta, it looked like the chances of rain were 40-60% each day of the week. But true to previous posts, we only say one 15 minute shower!! If there were clouds in the morning... we saw the Sun by the afternoon.

Hi rahkonenj - All of the current weather information including water temperature is scrolling across the screen near the top of this page, directly below the animated satellite image.

Underwater visibility is typically 60-100 feet or more year round, depending on sea conditions.

4:30 PM.

Current temperature on the Brac is 84 degrees. Wind out of the ESE at 14 mph. Underwater visibility excellent. Breakers rolling in on south side. North side has only a slight ripple.... Great diving and snorkeling!

Hey Brakker1!

Just curious, how often do you scuba dive there?

Not as often as I'd like! Most of my diving is shore diving, which is o.k. for me.... lots of coral and associated critters in some places. Wall dives are simpler from a boat, of course.... also more costly. Most places the wall drop-off is over a hundred yards from shore, but that's o.k..... I don't do deep dives anymore. I expect to get involved with the expansion of Atlantis when work begins again.... probably May or June. Should get plenty of down time then! Incidentally, I haven't been down (scuba diving, that is) in over three weeks.

We're at the tail end of a northwester now and the weather looks better for the end of the week. Hopefully the bad weather will be gone when you get here. When it says clouds and rain, that could just mean that you will have some showers and could be on just certain parts of the island. It's cool here now too, but I expect that will pass also

Shelly :-)

Going to SMB 1/22-1/27; forecast says rain and wind for most of the days. Really? Should I reschedule?

I wouldn't reschedule. Rain can mean sprinkles on one end of the island with blue skies on the other. Often rain comes and goes within an hour.

I wouldn't reschedule either. I think last month's forecasts gave a 20% (or more) chance of rain at least 90% of the days (maybe more). Here on the Brac the total for the month was Less than a quarter inch. Of course, Grand Cayman has more of everything so they probably got more. This month we've had .04 inches..... but the month is only half over.
