should've added this......temp is average about 85 degrees in May....if you get rain, as you've no doubt read on this board......it's more than not, very shortlived.....and you can just get in the car and go to the other side of the island and it will be, most likely....DRY!

Happy honeymoon planning! You might want to consider the Reef Resort on the East End.......quiet, peaceful, NEVER crowded!

JE429.....hasn't opened yet. It's a GIANT not exactly beloved.....by natives or visitors who love the island. Check out the Westin or the Hyatt for 7MB top of the line hotels!

JE429.....you're welcome! Sorry I can't comment because Turks and Caicos as well as Antigua are on our list as well as Belize and Tahiti, of places we want to see yet.......but I CAN tell you that we've been just about EVERY other island on the planet and NOTHING comes even CLOSE to Cayman! I call NO OTHER place paradise and never will......we're speaking of an island where the people do NOT bother you with buying junk on the beach.....who are not only the sweetest, kindest and most loving people we've ever met......but also of a tiny island that has the most beautiful, calm, clear waters full of unbelieveable sites......of gorgeous palms and flowers and restaurants to equal AND better some of NYC's BEST! and, of course........no one else but Guana Key in the Abacos (for one month out of the year) has THE BFM!

Thanks Celine. I'm also from PA like you. We already have our honeymoon booked to Hawaii but after some thought we decided to change. Everybody goes to Hawaii...we want to be different!! We really like Ritz Carltons and always had a wonderful experience at them. Would you ever stay there?? All I want is clear clear water and I've never seen it before. The closest I have came is Cape May and we both know you can't even see your feet there!!

JE429.......the only Ritz we have been to was in Paris.....and though I'm mad at the French right now (and I have French blood in my veins)........WOW!

As for Cayman.......really would NOT stay at the Ritz. Honestly wouldn't. I would stay, if I were going to 7MB.....at the Westin. If you want a "Ritz" experience...stay at the Ritz....if you want to "feel" like you're in the Caribbean, which you will be......stay at the Westin.

I know Joe loves the Hyatt, and the grounds are SPECTACULAR....and I hear the restaurants are as well......that's, to me...a "Hyatt" experience. I love the Hyatt hotels......stay at the Grand Hyatt in Manhattan a LOT and it's fantastic.....that being said.....the Westin has the best of both the amenities, style, class and polish that you want PLUS you will KNOW you're on an island paradise.

It's all about what you're looking for. I would, however, check to make sure that at the Ritz, you will actually be on the OCEAN SIDE because, I thought, that the ocean side was strictly owners...........at the lowest price of, I believe 1 million dollars......actually, now think it's much more.....and that for the lowest of the lowest.

Somebody else may have more complete and current info.....sorry, that's the best I can offer.

Let us know what you find out and what you decide and best of luck! You'll be on your honeymoon........and as I remember.......it doesn't matter WHERE you stay! Wink Celine Smile

whoops......also, where are you from in PA? and......the water on 7MB is crystal clear, aqua or turquoise, depending on the sun...warm, but not TOO warm and you will be totally hooked once you've experienced it for the first time! Also......find Joe's comments about Hawaii.....he was a dive instructor in Maui for about 8 or 10 years and HE left it for Cayman! Tells you something, eh?

Thanks for all the information...it really helps! I'm from Old Forge...It's by Scranton. I'll have to do some more research and see what we come up with. Were booked at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and just have seconds doubts about it. Water and beaches look better in Grand Cayman!! THANKS!

We have made two out of three trips the first week in May and the weather has been perfect! It's prior to hurricane season, and after the busy season, so the beaches are not crowded and the air & water temps are great!

Our favorite spot to stay is the Marriott Beach Resort.

I always travel to Cayman the last week of April and the first week of May and it's usually very nice. We stay at The Reef on the east end which might be a bit too quiet for you. It's heavenly from an R&R perspective. The east end gets the trade winds so it keeps it a bit more comfortable - less humid, less heat than some places on the west side.

No matter where you stay on the island you'll have a great experience!

My top 3 would be The Reef, The Hyatt or The Westin in no particular order - I won't put the Ritz on the list because of what I consider to be an eyesore they overbuilt on my island. The Reef doesn't do room service so if that's something you want then pick one of the others - The Westin does have their "heavenly beds" though which would get my vote.

For our trip - May 11-21,2005, the weather was perfect. Mid-Upper 80's daily humidity in the 60's. Nights were mid to upper 70's. Moderate winds out of the northeast 10-20 mph. (you will not feel that wind on the west side of the island) Some clouds each day, rarely mostly clowdy. Very little rain.
