We will be arriving on the 10th. Do we need a sweater for the evenings? What are the evening temps?

Thanks in advance

-Kathy

kathy - Even in December it never gets much below 75?. You will probably be colder inside some of the places like restaurants because of the air conditioning than outside. My wife gets colder than most people I know and she brings a light cover up when we go out at night, mainly for when we are indoors eating dinner. When we go for our post dinner walk on the beach, the wrap usually comes off.

It's probably better to have a wrap and not need it than to need a wrap and not have it. Wink

My wife is much like Joe's I think. She always brings a light cotton cover-up, and it's usually for indoors! Also, if you had a long day in the sun, a light coverup may also ward of an chill you may experience because of that. But for me it's 2 weeks of sandals, shorts and short sleeve shirts! I only need socks for the trip back and forth from home!!

Celine, My Mary goes from one extreme to the other. When will I be able to leave the Heat and Air Conditioning off? Running both at the same time is cutting back on Vacation Spending :-D Yeah, Right!

I'm with you, I had "female surgery" whilst living in Cayman (yay Cayman Hospitals just as good as what I could have gotten state side) and have been in perpetual hot flash mode ever since. However there is a local custom that helps and gives you an excuse to get back to Cayman.

Drink coconut water! Seriously, it gets rid of the hot flashes and also keeps the kidneys happy!!!! I'm starting back on mine when I get back on island. So now all of you with hot flashes (or those with wives who have hot flashes) have a "medical reason" for coming to Cayman.....to drink coconut water!!!! :-D

Cindy, Is coconut water available in the states that you know of? Mary does not believe in medication, well, almost never. She refuses to get help for the Evil

Thanks, Alan

Alan:

Among other things I'm a Holistic Health Practitioner and for my stateside clients I recommend they make their own coconut water, it's pretty easy and it doesn't take much to be effective.

Just go to your local super market and pick up a couple of coconuts, check for plenty of liquid in them by shaking them and listening for sloshing sounds. Take them home and use something to poke one of the "eyes" out with (I use a hammer and screw driver but I'm not very creative) and drain it into a container and keep it in the fridge. Have her take a few mouthfuls every day, have her do it for about 30 days and she should see a vast improvement (note coconut water is very different from coconut milk so don't get them confused!!!!) also rose geranium essential oil mixed with a little sesame seed oil and applied to the tummy helps balance hormones as well.

But I should think that a truly concerned hubby would want to book her on the next available flight to Cayman where she can loll around on the beach, take a Sotos cruise to play with the rays and get her coconut water by the half gallon locally:D

Alan:

The milk is made from the "meat" of the coconut while the water is just what's sloshing around in the coconut (I think). The milk is very fatty and does not have the same properties as the water (but still very yummy!!!). I learned about this from a 92 year old Caymanian man when I first moved to Cayman, he taught me some wonderful hints and tips and this one was my favorite. He said his wife had used it.

All I know is that many of my clients have used it over the years and it has worked for them and it has worked for me.

As to the vacation countdown, I should have said a nice hubby would send his wife on ahead so she could begin her medicinal cure of coconut water :-D Tell you what when you get on island give me a holler and I'll buy you and your wife a bevvie of choice and show you how to make coconut water Cheers

Cindylou, Let's not get carried away, let me tell you a secret...she said she would just as well stay home and do some remodeling around the house as go on a trip. To which I replied Rolling Eyes :-D . That's my honey, but once we get to wherever we're going, she has as good a time as if it were her idea. Cheers

We'll surely be looking up Joe and you and anyone else we can find who's going to be on the island at our time. HEAR THAT CELINE? AND JPEP? March is a great time to vacation, the Winter is fading but still close enough to get away from.

Cindy Lou, I think we're all a little rounder and grayer than we'd like, BUT, old is not in my vocabulary. Cheers

Don't take too much pleasure in confusing me, I am very good at being confused. It's built-in excuse for just about everything. Rolling Eyes

Old?????????? Old??????? Old???????? who said anything about old, oh my oh my oh no oh no oh no, I haven't even gotten out of my first childhood let alone entered my second one, I subscribe to the theory it is never too late to have a happy childhood (and preferably a continuous one at that)! Never old, just wiser (okay pushing it with that one but thought I'd give it a try).

Meanwhile back to the original subject, I too recommend a very light sweater or wrap for evenings for two reasons, one the restaurants do get a might chilly if you've been romping in the water and sun all day and two what isn't more romantic than to take a moonlit beach stroll after dinner with a luscious light soft silky wrap around your shoulders and your favorite guy holding your hand (okay that sentence should be applied to women, gentlemen please refrain from applying that to yourselves, the luscious soft silky thing you should have near you should probably be the lovely lady you have brought to enjoy the moonlight Very Happy
