Tropical Depression 24 is predicted to develop into a tropical storm during the next 24 hours, becoming "Wilma" the 26th. named storm of the season. We are running out of names this year. :?

Storms developing in this region are common in October and they usually do not gain any significant strength or intensity until they are well past the Cayman Islands.

The Cayman Islands are currently under a Tropical Storm warning and Hurricane watch. Unless a hurricane warning is issued this will not have any impact on travel to the Cayman Islands.

My opinion is that it will intensify and pass the Cayman Islands by at least 100 miles to the southwest as a category 1 hurricane, having a minimal wind and surge impact on the islands. I expect us to receive several inches of rain during the next several days.

I was planning to go to the Westin today with Peggy to enjoy their lavish Sunday brunch and shoot some pictures and videos. Thanks to Ms. 24 this will have to wait until next week. Bash

I will post all future developments as soon as they become available.

Best of luck to everybody living and visiting the Cayman Islands. I hope it misses you!

I can only see two of the satellite pictures, the rest of them have a box with an X in the middle of it. :?

5imon - I checked the host site of the images and they are also not displaying consistantly; this issue is not related to our message board.

Images slow down when they are being viewed by numerous people at the same time, or if they are being updated by the host. Please try again in a few minutes and refresh your browser several times. I will look for a few more images from other sites so some of them will always be visible at any given time. Wink

In the mean time you can always check our main satellite page:

After the other storms, all these tropical storms must be nerve wracking. I agree, I hope it misses you by a wide margin...Good Luck.

When I heard the news this morning, I had 2 thoughts: obviously they will have to put a hold on the reconstruction of our condo: and at least Celine will not have to worry about getting a sunburn!

Actually it was not a bad day here today. We got a few drops of rain for about 10 minutes and the skies were mostly cloudy but nothing that would prevent people from enjoying a typical day in paradise.

I think with Celine's fun and positive outlook on life it would take a lot more than a little rain to ruin her vacation. Very Happy

I know I'm rather new and am still waiting for my first actual landing on Grand Cayman, two previous attempts were cancelled due to one hurricane and one cruise trip had too rough seas for the tenders. I think Celine can have fun anytime, anywhere, rain or shine. Alan
