PostPosted: Fri Feb 18, 2005 9:21 am    Post subject: Is it Rainy in the Summer?

I've been planning to go to G.C. in early to mid June this year. First can anyone give me a weather overview...I know it can be very rainy in the summer, and have only stayed there before in Late April/early May.

Second Q...last April, stayed at the Beachcomber and even pre-Hurricane, there was construction (and construction noise) in all directions from the mega-condos going up between the old Carribean Club and the Westin. But I love that area of the beach -- any thoughts on what level of noise/construction will there by June and perhaps best 7M beach areas to have the highest "serenity" factor?

Would it be better overall to go up by Rum Point, or will that be very windy in June?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Diva:

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your post.

Rainy season usually does not start until late July or August. June is my favorite month here as far as weather. Highs in the low 90s, humidity around 80% and gently easterly breezes.

There has been construction going on here since as long as I can remember for at least the last 10 years. I don't see this year as being any different.

Hi There - First time poster here... my husband and I are thinking about going to Cayman in Aug/Sept/Oct.. we are scuba divers and have usually gone to Hawaii or Cozumel in the past. We wanted to try somewhere new this year and are thinking about Cayman (7 mile beach).

What is the weather like in Aug/Sept/Oct? Are hurricanes a bigger threat? What are the water temps?

Is this a good time to go, or do you have other suggestions?

Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you!

~ Golda

Water temp is about 85 degrees during those months.

Sept/Oct are peak hurricane season.

Anytime is a good time to go for diving but everyone will have their favourite season - mine is the spring time after a cold winter at home.

Given those 3 months I'd go either early Aug or late Oct.

Hi ScubaCalGal - Welcome to the fourm. Very Happy

I lived in Hawaii on Maui for 5 years doing mostly diving. There are more pelagics there, but everything else here is much better. Wink You are going to absolutely love it.

Hurricane season runs from June to November, and as caribbeansun mentioned, most likely during October and November. That said, with the exception of Ivan we have not been hit with a major hurricane in almost 80 years. The odds of you encountering one here this year are about the same as getting hit by lightening.

September is the hottest and most humid month of the year; the other two months are slightly cooler and a bit less humid. If you spend most of your time in and around the water like most people this will not be an issue. Those months also have the best prices, most special offers and fewest people. Wink
