Rent A Car?

Planning our first trip to Grand Cayman April 2010. Staying on 7 Mile Beach. We love to snorkel and ride bikes. Do you recommend we rent a car for some or all of our trip?

Yes, definitely rent a car for at least some of the trip.
You can then get across to East End, Rum Point etc...to enjoy a totally different experience to SMB.

It is really not that expensive to rent a car, and check out the car rental section here for coupon availability and the websites for the recommended car services.

I would absolutely rent a car! There is so much more to the island than just the 7MB area where you will be staying, and by the time you add up all the taxi fares as well as the inconvenience, you will be further ahead with the car.

Have a wonderful time....you will LOVE it as we all do!

I agree with the others and would strongly advise you to rent a car, at least for several days. We recommend both Andy's Car Rental (located right across the street from Sunshine Suites) and Economy Car Rental. You'll get discounts for being a member of this board, especially if you're going after April 15th (which means it's the "summer season" and not the "winter"). You'll also get discounts for reserving the cars over the Internet, and most will not charge for the 7th day (so get it for the whole week....you won't regret it!).

Even more strongly than recommending that you rent a car, I would like to discourage you from thinking that you're going to do much bike riding. Once you get there, you'll see that the heavy amount of traffic on the road that runs along 7 Mile Beach makes it very dangerous, especially for a tourist, to ride a bike. We really don't recommend it at all.
