Our cruise ship (Royal Caribbean) will be in port on April 2, 2007. We definitely want to do the Stingray trip independently. We are not planning on booking through the ship, however, I have a party of 8 and it is difficult to get them to plan ahead. Does anyone know if you can contact Sotos from the pier and take the trip that same day? Or must you book 24 hours in advance? Some of our party who have cruised before have had good luck in other ports (ie. Belize cave tubing) making arrangements once off the ship at the pier, but I don't want to chance it and miss seeing the stingrays. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. This is a great site!

Hi Karen, welcome aboard (sorry for the pun...) I can't give you a definitive answer on that, but I don't think booking with Soto's from the pier is possible. I would recommend getting the people that want to go nailed down and book the trip a week or so in advance. If some of your party sound wishy washy, just tell 'em they'll miss out on the experience of a lifetime! (Heck, I've been there 7 times and I still think it's neat...)

That was my gut reaction. I am dealing with family members who all live in different cities, so it's a bit of a trick getting answers. I may just go ahead and book for those in my immediate family who know they want to go. Thanks for the reply!

By the way, if you go to the trip report section of these forums and look at the report I just did I have pictures that I took with an underwater camera, if you're not familiar with Stingray City it gives you an idea, there's also a picture of my wife holding a stingray!
