Hi all! This board has been very helpful with planning our trip to Grand Cayman. We decided to go with Soto's based on the information within this board. I contacted Kerry and was told the US price was $35. pp for the 2007 rate. I remembered that the Activity Board members get a discount and I emailed her to ask her the discounted price and was told $35. pp. Have they discontinued their discount for activity board members in 2007? I hate to keep emailing Kerry because I get the impression that she is very busy and just doesn't seem that friendly. Are there any problems with their outfit? She was so friendly and helpful when I was emailing a few months ago to decide which operator to go with. Is there another operator that you recommend for going to stingray sand bar and snorkeling? Thanks again for all of your input.

Sheryl

Sheryl,

I'm sorry you are encountering some problems. I'm not aware of a change in the CAG discount for Soto's, but will try and get to the bottom of it. I'm not located on the island, but will try to find the information for you. I know that several of the Moderators have gone with Soto's and have had a wonderful experience. It is a much more personal experience at Stingray City and has been highly recommended for quite sometime.

Firstly let me say I am so sorry you are not receiving the attention and friendly manner that Soto's is so well known for. Kerry must be quite busy, as I've always had such great experiences with her.

I believe they have raised the price since last season, therefore upping the discounted price to $35 US. Discount referring to discounted compared to other Sting ray city Tours.

They are a very reputable and recommended Activity, and hope you future experiences are a bit smoother. We went with a pretty large group in May and have to say everyone was very happy with the tour.

Also, on a side note: Pls remember to bring your own towels.

Hope this helps.

Sheryl,

I have contacted Kerry at Soto's directly and will post her response as soon as I receive it. The discounted rate in the past was $24 CI - not US. So that is $30 US. If the price has changed, it is only by $5 US.

Again...I will post when I hear back from Kerry.

Kim

Thanks again for all of your help and quick responses. I guess I was confused because the regular price I was given was the same as the discounted Activity Board price (up to $35.00 us in 2007) but I guess it is considered discounted compared to other operators. Thanks again.

Just got the details from Kerry at Soto's

The 2007 rates are as follows:

The new rate will be CI$28 or US$35 per adult

Childrens rate will remain the same @ US$25

Hope this clears up any questions.

Hey all,

What a great board. I am soon going to be visiting the Caymans in Feb. and have been finding many answers to many questions that I have had about what to do, what to see, and finding out the best way to relax when I arrive.

I have been reading the threads abouts Soto Cruises and am likely to book with them. After all, the board has been filled with warm reviews about Sotos. I saw the questions about pricing so went to their direct website sotocruises.com and the amount advertised was $30US per adult. I was sure that this tour included Sting Ray City and the gardens for snorkeling. Are their different types of tours that will cost less or is this the same as the one that has been talked about on the board? Or am I just confused and overly excited to get there!!!

Welcome to the forum wefest diva Smile ,

I am so glad that you found us and that you have found the information here helpful.

I think the problem is that Soto's Cruises has not updated their website yet with their 2007 prices. If you read the fine print on the website, it actually says that the prices there are only valid through 2006.

So, to answer your question, yes, this is the same company that everyone raves about here on the forum, and that tour is the Stingray City tour with snorkeling at the Coral Gardens. It's just an outdated price.

Keep in mind, that you will only get that price if you book directly (not through a hotel concierge) and if you pay in cash or traveler's checks. Oh....and be sure to mention the Activity Guide, so they know where you heard about them!

(Does "wefest" in your name come from the Detroit Lakes wefest? - I'm from Minnesota too!)

Char

Char-

Thank you for the reply. I didn't read the fine print. I think our mind is made up to go through Soto. You have helped seal the deal. I think we need to reserve then pay cash when there in person if I have this right? Is is better to exchange money or use US dollars? Again a wonderful board for the information I am searching for.

By the way,the name is in reference to we-fest. I am originally from Detroit Lakes and have been a long time employee of the fest. Can't wait to get to Grand Cayman the trip is soooo close but seems soooo far away.

Yep, that's right.....you just pay them when you get there. No need to exchange money. Everyone will accept your US dollars and give you Cayman Island dollars in return.

You'll love Cayman!

Just finished a cruise with a stop on Cayman. Went with Soto's again(our 1st trip with them was in Sept. '06). Fantastic 2 site snorkel once again! Went to the gardens first, then Stingray Sandbar second. Randy and Kerry have this trip down to a science. You'll love it! Smile

Hi All,

Just wanted to chime in typing . $35.00 pp is very reasonable from what I have found. The tour from our resort is charging $55.00 pp and if I booked from orbitz, where we booked our flights, it is $80.00 pp. That equals a savings of 5 ultimate margharitas, Margarita which are very important to my well being. spin hehe

I am in with the nine beers drinking . Another question? Would it be a good time to go have Sotos drop us off at Royal Palms and spend the rest of our time there before we need to depart. Or should we head to Cementary Beach. Our time is very limited, we port at 7:00 and leave by 4:00. Doesn't seem like much time to spend in what appears to be a great island filled with adventure. I am sure next year we will have to just skip the cruise and spend our whole vacation on the island.
