Hi
We are headed to Grand Cayman in April and are planning to do a lot of snorkeling. We have our own gear that we have used on sandy beaches. The fins have adjustable backs and about 1/2-1 inch of heel is exposed. Do we need to purchase the boot style fins or will we be ok with the fins we have.
Thanks so much
Stacey

Your fins should be just fine....if they work for you in other places I don't see why they wouldn't work on GC...have a wonderful trip.

If the fins you have are the kind with a strap, then I wouldn't go out and buy a new pair. Those should be fine, but you might want to buy little booties to wear inside (or maybe some people even wear socks?), so the strap doesn't irritate your heel.

If you get down there and wish you had the other type of fin, you can certainly find a lot of places to purchase a pair or even rent.

Have fun!

Char

Char is right about the booties. That would be a wise investment. They could double as "water shoes" so you could walk over the ironshore that is in front of the some nice snorkelling spots around the island. The booties will also stop the chance of the strap and fin itself chaffing your feet. That's what I do when I snorkel.

When I dive, I use full foot fins cuz, actually, I hate booties! rolllaugh
