Hi Everyone!

Going down in October with the kids for vacation. Jump

Wondering if there is a "jellyfish season" on GC. Don't want the kids (or ourselves for that matter) to get stung while snorkeling.

Thanks for the info!

Lisa

Lisa,

There is a long thread in the Diving forum about Sea Lice and Sea Itch. Seems to mostly be a problem when the thimble jellyfish larvae are abundant in the spring months (like March-May). There's really a lot of good information shared by everyone in the posts. You probably won't have any problem going in October.

Here's the link -

Thank you Char! Our oldest daughter saw a sea walnut (from what I have found out) in the BVI this spring and freaked out! crying We kept telling her that it was nothing but she wanted out of the water.

Thanks for the information!

Sorry to reopen an old thread, but we've got a large number of what appear to be some type of jellyfish off the beach here near Rum Point. They seem larger than what everyone describes thimble jellyfish to be like, however. Anyone have any idea what type of jellyfish they might be? What else is common right now?

Ask the people at the Rum Point watersports spot what is around there now. Maybe it's plain old jellyfish.

Shelly :-)
