Hi,
I was hoping to get some help from you vet's of The Cayman Island. I'm staying on the east side at Morritts for my honeymoon. My husband and i are looking for a good place to buy groceries at a reasonable rate ( I hear its real expensive) We've heard about fosters we were thinking of stopping on our way to the east side right from the airport??

We would like to take a dinner cruise and heard that the best would be the 60 foot Yatch by Oh Boy Charters...Also hear that the best beach is rum point? what is the best day during the week to go so its not so crowded?

We also hear it is a great place to buy watchs? where can we go shopping for things like silver jewlery, pendants, watchs

Thanks for any info you can offer....

hi msaldeba

What a great place for a honeymoon! Best wishes and I know you'll have a wonderful time in GC.

Yes--groceries are expensive---but a whole lot cheaper than eating out. Fosters is an excellent grocery store--huge and has most things that you can get at home at a large grocery. On your drive out to Morritts, you can stop in the Fosters at Countryside shopping center in Savannah to stock up. There is a mini Fosters across from Morritts that you can use to fill in. It's kind of like a 7/11 store. They have a little bit of produce and a small amount of meat....plus the regular staple items.

Sorry I can't help you with your other questions, but hopefully someone else will be able to

Shelly :-)

I bought a watch while in Cayman once.....I found it in the States for five dollars more than I paid for it. It has not been my experience that you will find real bargains on anything in Cayman except maybe perfume and china. I have bought some jewelry but did not feel like I had a real bargain. I hope you prove me wrong! Cayman is not a cheap Island...but it's the BEST!

msaldeba,

Congratulations on your soon-to-be wedding love.

We got our Cayman start by going on our honeymoon, too. You'll be hooked! We stayed near Rum Point in the Cayman Kai area.

OK, enough of the mushy stuff, let's get down to what's important; shopping!

Here's a link to our main shopping page... http://www.caymanactivityguide.com/ShoppingDirectory.htm. Many of the recommended shops give CAG discounts, so a few minutes here will prove beneficial and profitable.

Foster's has a good selection of groceries and you'll find most anything you get in the states, or something comparable.

I may have to get Mrs DS to give some jewelry shopping pointers; she's the expert there. Happily for me, she blows me out of the water in income so she spends her own $$$, not mine BouncingLaugh. I can say that she plans her shopping excursions for when there is only one or two ships in port. That way, every shop is open but it isn't too crowded in town.

Rum Point is getting way crowded. If you go, check the ship schedule so you're not over run by cruise sheep Laughing.

An option for beach lounging is Kaibo, just down the street from Rum Point. Our Kaibo page is right here... http://www.caymanactivityguide.com/Kaibo.htm

I hope this gets you started!
DS
