GSRDPM - Grocery stores are closed on Sunday and Fosters at the airport is very crowded on Saturday. On a Saturday I would get groceries at either Fosters at the Strand or Hurlys at Grand Harbor. Any other day I would go to the airport Fosters.

I found Foster's running some specials on Thursdays; Fridays; and Saturday's that they don't offer the rest of the week. They also have a "bulk" deal rack in the back of the store with some better deals when you go large.

Thanks for the feedback - especially the heads up on the grocery shopping on Saturday. I hope I didn't Hijack the thread. I'll continue on in my "Making Friends" thread.

As for grocery discounts, I believe the Hurleys offers a flat rate discount all day every Wednesday.

I will be arriving on a Saturday and renting a car from Andy's. Is the strand on the way to Grand Caymanian Resort or should i just go with Fosters by the Airport and deal with the crowd?

Thanks,

Cubanpete

Cubanpete,

I don't know exactly where the Grand Caymanian is, but I have a general idea......I think it's quite close to Foster's at the Strand, so I wouldn't bother stopping at the Foster's near the airport.

fosters at the strand is a "hop skip and a jump" from the grand caymanian. you will pass right by it on the way from the airport.

once heading north on west bay bay road it will be on your right just past the hyatt. the entrance to the grand caymanian is another minute or two up west bay road on the same side of the street as the strand. there is a fosters with a CAG rack out front with the 10% off any purchase coupon. you can find fosters-IGA on line and get a sense of the inventory.

Just an FYI...Traffic on 7 Mile beach is only during peak hours.

When everyone is getting to work or heading home from work.

in the mornings between 8am-9:30am and 5pm-6:30pm..Other then those times, you shouldn't have any issues....Oh & during tropical storms. spin

Yes, I believe that Hurley's is off of Crewe Road. It's in the Grand Harbor shopping center.....very big on the left side of the road as you head East. Since you are staying on the East End, it would be the perfect place for you to stop for your groceries.

Nope. Just eat at one of the recommended restaurants.

The Hyatt has many great restaurants right on the premises.

gszenacm,

It is at most a leisurely 10 minute walk from the Hyatt to the Foster's supermarket at The Strand shopping center. So even if you do not have a car the first few days, you can walk there, shop and walk back with groceries easily. There is also a Big Daddy's is right across from the Hyatt.

gszenacm,

As Michelle said, the grocery stores are not open on Sundays, but there are little mini marts at the gas stations and they are open on Sundays.

I'm sure that you are concerned about this because of your little one. I wonder if the Hyatt would be willing to purchase some staples that you will need and have them waiting for you in your refrigerator in your room. I think that there are some hotels that are willing to do this, especially under your circumstances.

If not, then I would just ask the taxi driver to stop at one of the mini marts and wait while you run in and get what you need.
