My wife and I are going to Grand Cayman in October. We will be staying at the Marriott Beach Resort. I was wondering if anyone can provide a list of good restaurants with their locations and whether they are high or low priced. This would be a great help to us and probably others.

Thank you for all the great information.

Hello kenjo,

Don't know if we have a concise list of restaurants as what you are looking for, but if you look HERE you'll see lots of restaurant reviews, some with videos!

Some that come to mind right away are Coconut Joe's and Aqua Beach which are across the street and close to your hotel. These are both very casual, good food, lots of fun, moderately priced. Some other very nice restaurants, also not too far away from where you are located are the Wharf and the Lobster Pot, both of which are a little more expensive. Both are on the water and great for sunsets and watching the tarpon being fed. Great atmosphere at both of them, especially the Wharf!

Hope this helps a bit,

Char

kenjo:

this board posts restaurant reviews, comments and valuable information with a level of detail that you will not find elsewhere.

to speak directly to your question; if you were to query your internet search engine with the term cayman restaurants you would probably find a site with such a list.

gjm - With those search keywords you will pull up thousands of restaurant sites, most with outdated and misleading information.

You will find the latest listings for all the best restaurants with their corresponding price rankings in the dining section of the current issue of Activity Guide:

One more thing, if you check the Cayman Activity Guide website itself, there is a list of the restaurants that advertise with the magazine. The fact that they are advertisers also means that these are the ones that Joe gives his highest recommendation to, based on having personally and thoroughly checked them out. dine

You can access this quickly by clicking HERE

My husband and I have enjoyed Grand Cayman for years, but have not been back post hurricane. Looks like many of our favorite restaurants are gone: Smugglers Cove, Casanova, Crows Nest. Can someone recommend some of the more "high end" restaurants in place today. We are taking friends and really want to blow their socks off!

Hi lamb4421, Welcome to the forum,

Here's a few of the best restaurants. Try to dine at as many of these as you possibly can:

- The Wharf

- Hemingways

- Lobster Pot

- Lighthouse

- Pappagallo

- Edoardos

- Guy Harvey's

- Grand Old House

- Portofino

- Reef Grille at Royal Palms

These are not in order and all represent the absolute cream of the crop, as far as Grand Cayman restaurants are concerned. You would be hard pressed to find anything this unique, delicious, diverse and served in incomparable atmospheres in any major city in the world. They really are that good.

Have a Great Day!!

Hi lamb4421 -

My husband and I just returned from our trip last night. Our 2 favorite dinners were at Pappagallo and Lobster Pot.

It was our first trip to Pappagallo and absolutely worth the little drive north. Husband had wonderful Black and Yellow Linguini which had good sized tender shrimp and scallops in a wonderful sauce. I had lobster ravioli - best ever had! Incredible food, very attentive service and a beautiful unique atmosphere!

Lobster Pot is one we have been to before and always enjoy. Husband had Cayman Trio which is Grilled Mahi Mahi, Lobster Tail, and Shrimp and I really splurged this time and had "The Pot" - Lobster Tail, King crab legs (which were split - no fumbling with crackers!) and giant butterflied shrimp.

I highly recommend both of these places. (Last summer we also had fine meals at Portofinos in East End district. )Will include some food pics when I get a trip report up. Wink

Well going back tomarrow 13 May 06. YEA!!!!! As far as the prices for restaurants. Well i was there about 3 years ago and lets just say nothing is cheap. Beer was about $6.00 then. And that might of been in Cayman Dollars. SO American Dollars it is 25% more. The only thing cheap about Caymans is getting there and saying there. Once they get you there watch out!!! I am going on a Liveaboard for the week so i don't care. Take alot of money with you!!!!!!

I believe if you are eating in the cream of the crop restaurants every day & night it does get a bit expensive, though with so many other restaurants, bars, and places to eat available you can easily cut down the dining prices.

One of my lower end favorites, as many here will agree to, is COCONUT Joe's...all the way! For Breakfast Lunch or Dinner.
