I am planning a vacation the Grand Cayman Island and I have heard that the Pools of the Kai are exceptionally beautiful as well as peaceful and would like to know what others thought. Thanks

Hi mrasiul

I haven't been in them, but we stay very close at the Kaibo Yacht Club-Phase 2. The Pools look nice from the outside, and it must be nice to have your very own pool. You'll be close to the Kaibo restaurant which we enjoy. It's definitely peaceful......the beach in this area is not as beautiful as SMB, but you are on the water. You're also really close to Cayman Kayaks...I've gone out with them a few times and had a great time.

Try the best places hotel/condo search at the top of the page ---Check with Cayman Villas and you can get a Cayman Activity guide discount. They do have some units from the Pools and also Kaibo. (Phase 2 is pretty new--built after Ivan. Nice pool --granite kitchen and frig with ice makers.)

Maybe someone who has stayed at the Pools will respond.

Shelly :-)

I am so excited about this vacation, this is my first time traveling to the Carribbean and I am not so young anymore! So this will be a real adventure, my sister and I just booked the Pools of the Kai for the first week in September, I am just hoping that I don't get to exprience a Hurricane up close and personal but it's the only time I could get off. Thanks so very much for your quick reply.

I hope you love it as much as we do. We have been going to Grand Cayman since 1969. The side of the island you are staying on is more like Cayman used to be--no huge hotels in the Cayman Kai area ---which we decided we like. We moved over to Cayman Kai after Hurricane Ivan.( The place that we stayed on SMB for many years had significant hurricane damage and was torn down--very sad for us). It's far from much of the activity--but we really enjoy it. Be sure to try the Lighthouse Restaurant--delicious food--expensive but wonderful.

Also go to the Botanic Garden, which is over on our side of the island.

If you are a walker you can take a walk over to Rum Point--1.3 miles from Kaibo ( or drive)

Hope you have a wonderful trip! The big hurricane has been there, so hopefully it won't be back for a very long time.

Shelly :-)

Four of us stayed at the Pools several years ago.

It was really nice having the pool right there. They aren't on the ocean side but there is still beach and a nice view of the sound and such.

Of course, if you have small kids, they'll need close watching around the pool.

Enjoy,
DS
