I have started our countdown and we are getting ready. We will be staying at Crescent Point Resort. It is not on your recommended list, but seems to be very nice. We booked with a travel service in Atlanta. Our main problem was that we needed a full three bedroom first floor room. With seven women staying for one week that was a must. We needed the first floor because one of us has bad knees (she has had surgery on both knees) and cannot do steps. We all love the beach and wanted to be as close to the water as possible. Sure hope this works out. I think we are going to try the Buccaneers dinner at the Marriott. It sounds like it should be fun. I have been watching this site since last January, so have gotten some good ideas. We can hardly wait to spend a whole week on your island paradise!

Hi retired50303 and

I know it's too late for you to change your plans but I just need to point out a few things for everyone else that reads this topic.

1. Crescent Point Resort is not a resort, not by any stretch of the imagination. They have no resort amenities whatsoever, which makes them a condo. There are a couple of condos that tag "resort" on the end of their name and I find that to be somewhat misleading, at best. To qualify as a resort I believe the property should at the very least offer on site services such as activities, day spa, room service, boutiques, restaurants, etc.

2. Many of the condos on our Hotel Search offer three bedroom ground floor units and at lower or comparable prices with much higher value. This is not just my opinion. I spent the better part of two weeks evaluating every single condo on Seven Mile Beach using an extensive checklist and entered all of the data into an Excel spreadsheet to extrapolate the data into the various categories, representing the highest valued properties in three different areas of Seven Mile Beach.

Crescent Point is a nice condo and with very few exceptions there really are no poor condos here in the Cayman Islands. Every establishment must pass a vigorous inspection process by the government to assure exceptionally high standards for all Cayman accommodations.

Have a wonderful vacation and if you have any questions please don?t hesitate to ask.

Hi retired50303,

I have to agree with Joe that there really are a lot of 3 BR first floor units in condos up and down 7 Mile Beach, so there really would have been a lot to choose from, but your rental agency might not have known that. With that being said, I want you to still feel good about your upcoming vacation, because Crescent Point looks very, very nice. I have a timeshare at Plantation Village, which is right smack next door, so I'm sort of familiar with it, at least from the outside. To tell you the truth, whenever I've looked over to Crescent Point, it looks very empty, so my guess is that most of the owners don't choose to rent theirs out........seems very quiet over there, so you might actually really like that.

I'll repost a picture that I first posted about six months ago, that I pulled off of the Plantation Village owners' website. The condo deveopment in the picture is Plantation Village, but everything to the right of that wall is your beach, so as you can see, you'll have a very nice sandy beach to enjoy

.

The pool is right behind that green hedge, so you'll have a nice view of the water, whether you are at the pool or beach. Trouble is.....the entry into the water right there is very, very rocky.....lots of ironshore, so you may have to walk further up the beach to find a spot to go in for a swim.

Have a great trip!

Char
