Have they torn down the condos in front of the Comfort Suites on Seven Mile Beach?

Good question...

We stay at Tamarind Bay next door and last year they were redoing the pool there. I will e-mail my contact at TB and get back to you with the answer...

Yes, they did take those down. The only thing there is an empty lot and a new pool. I think the plans are to build new condos there and I think they are pre-selling right now but no construction as of yet.

Thank you Summertoes!

I just head back from Tamarind Bay and Betty said the same thing! The old units are gone and construction has not started, but there is a nice new pool! Smile

What condos were in front of Comfort Suites? Were they torn down because of hurricane damage?

It was Turtle Beach Condos. Ivan caused so much damage that the second level actually collapsed onto the main floor and the structure was deemed unsafe & was condemed. It got nailed pretty hard!

That's so sad. The place that we always stayed was torn down last summer--too much Ivan damage. The island looks pretty good when you drive around it, but I guess there is still a lot of Ivan things going on

We saw some things being torn down in Dec/Jan close to Boddentown

The new pool that you have referred to on the site where the condos in front of Comfort Suites used to be......is the pool filled and is it for use by Comfort Suites people? Just wondering........

They had just finished redoing it when we were there last year and I was kind of thinking that is what it might have been for, but I don't know. It is a very good question and I will see if I can find out for you.

Just got a message back from Tom at Comfort Suites and the pool is not for resort guest use. It is on the Turtle Beach private property and cannot be used by unauthorized guests.

Man, that is kind of weird, don't you think? Wouldn't there be a liability issue or something with an unattended pool?

I'll have to check it out myself.....

Seems kind of strange that the pool would be built before anything else. But building in Cayman can be kind of a strange thing too.

According to Tom, the Mgr at Comfort Suites, it is not for guest use as it is on the Turtle Beach private property. It is odd that they redid the pool, but that is the story!
