Is this hotel on a nice part of the beach? Is it comperable to the Westin?

Vegas M - Yes it is on a very nice beach, right across the street. Most of the rooms are ocean view. It has all the amenities of the Westin and larger rooms at 1/2 of the price. It is not as upscale as the Westin, but very clean and comfortable. Rooms start at around $200/night this time of year.

OK, what do you mean it's on a very nice beach "right across the street"??

Does that mean it's not directly on the beach and we would have to walk across to get there? Crying or Very sad

Also, does it have a great pool area??

Correct.

The Marriott Courtyard is located across the road from the beach. It is their own beach and has a bar and lunch service along with all of the resort ammenties of the beach, it's just a walk across the road.

It is a beautiful hotel and I've heard it has a great pool as well.

Good luck making a decision!

Hi Vegas:

It is not directly on the beach, and you do have to walk across the street to get to it. The good news is that the actual distance from hotel lobby to beach is about 30 yards (I could hit it with a lob wedge, half swing). Razz

If you are on any of the higher floors facing the ocean, you will have a nice ocean view from your room. Check this beforehand as there is very limited availability and the ocean view rooms sell out first.

The pool are is beautiful, one of the nicest pools anywhere. Prices are another plus. You will spend about half as much on room service and mini bar as most other resorts. This is not the Hyatt or the Westin, but it's less than half the price. And, it's available. Wink

The Courtyard is a nice hotel, we stayed there last year. It is very reasonable price wise and they had a wonderful breakfust buffet for about $8. I would go back there for sure.

By looking at the maps from this extremely helpful web guide clapping , I noticed the Marriott Courtyard is not near other hotels....Rates were very reasonable and the reviews were good but what's nearby? We are probably going to rent a car but any info or recommendations would be great.

Thanx in Advance, LEZ rolllaugh

Welcome to the forum, by the way, lesleil Smile ,

I see that you have been doing some reading here and are learning a lot as you prepare for your upcoming trip. That's great to hear!

To answer your question, I would say that you are right........the Marriott Courtyard really isn't near any of the other hotels..........it is across the street from a very beautiful stretch of 7 Mile Beach, so hopefully you will have an ocean view room! Anyway, I would most definitely recommend renting a car, because there really aren't any shops or restaurants in walking distance from your hotel.....at least, I don't think so Rolling Eyes . It does look like a great place to stay, so I'm sure you'll be happy with your choice. I hope that you booked it through the page on this forum, giving you a discount for being a member here......

I headed to The Courtyard Marriott. I checked in and found it to be very nice and looked brand new inside. After hearing about a renovation, I guess it's just to put something more upscale in. Everyone there was wonderful. I even found a new friend.....stories to tell later.......The beach out in front was really nice. The bar had enough rum for me drinking Snorkeling was amazing. Snorkel Not too many people as it was truly off-season.

I was wondering if anyone had any more info on the courtyard closing down. From what I understand they sustained water damage from Paloma and that between this and the plans to renovate they are closed for good. I've also heard that they are relocating guests to the marriott beach resort.
I am booked from 12-24 - 1-4 and I doubt that they are going to have room to relocate everyone from the courtyard to the beach resort. If anyone has any info, or news as it comes out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I would contact them directly. They have a lot of people to relocate. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Laughing

Good Luck!

jdstinch: As far as I know that is correct. Odd though, as none of the surrounding properties were affected. I have been waiting for the official release I requested 3 days ago from the Courtyard's GM. I'll call Dan again tomorrow and hopefully have an official announcement to post.

I have confirmed that the Mangrove Beach Bar across the street is in in full operation with a spectacular Wednesday night buffet including live music and entertainment, directly on the beach. I will also be posting photos and details of that shortly.

Thanks Joe. My wife actually called and asked what was going on with the situation and they said they are relocating at the same rate, but not sure on where. Sounded good...
We then got a call saying that the reservation is cancelled. No relocation. Nothing. Looks like we are going to have to find a new place.
If you ask me it sounds like they are expediting their renovation process - considering none of the other properties were too damaged after the storm.
