Currently in Grand Cayman and loving it. Just a quick question- we have Amex Traveler's Checks and several times when I ask the merchant who to make it out to they say, "Just leave it blank." I'm not sure I like that. Does anyone know why they want to discourage me from filling in the "Payable to" line?

That's a good question... I guess as long as yoiu're getting what you are paying for it's not that big a deal. Anybody else?

BTW are you a photog?

They probably have a stamp that they use to put in the name of the company or restaurant etc. Saves you time and the name is right that way---anyway that's what I think. I wouldn't worry about it as divnpaul said --as long as you get what you're paying for and you get the right change.

Shelly :-)

Never use em, just a waste of time in my opinion. Unless you need to carry around a huge amount of cash why bother. Everyone there takes credit cards, and there's ATMs all over the place.

I always take them and never use them anymore---just kind of an old habit I guess from the days when they didn't take credit cards at the grocery stores.

You get a 2% better exchange rate into CI$ when you cash them at a bank.
