Welcome to the forum liasimzy Smile ,

Yes, you'll find that credit cards are widely accepted at almost all restaurants and stores. There are possibly some snorkeling trips and scuba dive operators that aren't set up to take credit cards, and/or might offer you a discount if you pay with cash or travelers checks. I know that Soto's Cruises, who we highly recommend for snorkeling trips to Stingray City, don't take credit cards.

But, to answer your question......yes, you can use your credit cards at restaurants and stores on Grand Cayman.

Got back from Cancan last week and what a culture shock.

No one we dealt with took credit cards. We generally travel to Cayman with only about $100 US in cash since all we use it for is tips for the maid and dive masters. That was nowhere near enough.

P.S. Diving a cenote was way cool.

that's really strange--I wonder why (other than it costs them some $)--it is a pretty big tourist area. I do like getting all those miles as we are adding up those charges!

Make sure to call your bank and let them know that you'll be using your credit cards out of the country.

I got back from Cayman last week and everyone took credit cards except for the nice woman with her own tiny shop at the north end of Frank Sound road.

What major credit cards are widely accepted on GC besides Visa?
