Hello Everyone!

Just as an FYI ... I called my MBNA/American Express Rewards card and found out that they do not charge a currency exchange fee from CI to USD. I know there was a discussion before about this and I wanted to let you all know.

Karen - my MBNA VISA only charged me a transaction fee on the room deposit when I made my reservation. Subsequent charges on my card - no fee - which is a good thing but who knows why. And I'm not asking! gosh

from our condo to fosters and blackbeards and every restaurant we dined, all credit card charges listed the fee to be charged in both Cayman$ and US$

no additional transaction fees appeared on my credit cards.

admittedly, I did not check the math on the conversions a the point of service which all appeared computer generated to see if the merchants had added-on any additional fees.

GJM & Becka,

Glad to hear you both are having the same success with the CC. I called my United Visa (which I will not be using) and they charge 3%. WOW! What a waste of money! That is at least another drink in my book!!! drinking

Well I better go and start to pack!!!

I checked with Bank of America before I went in April and they said they charge a 3% foreign conversion fee, but it is based on them having to convert foreign currency not just on a charge from a foreign country.

I found that every place I used my card in April, could either run it in US dollars or CI dollars. If they run you card in US dollars then there is no foreign currency, so your credit card wont charge you the 3% conversion fee. Even a little store on Cayman Brac ran my card in US dollars and I have not been charged any fees by my credit card.
