I checked with Bank of America before I went in April and they said they charge a 3% foreign conversion fee, but it is based on them having to convert foreign currency not just on a charge from a foreign country.
I found that every place I used my card in April, could either run it in US dollars or CI dollars. If they run you card in US dollars then there is no foreign currency, so your credit card wont charge you the 3% conversion fee. Even a little store on Cayman Brac ran my card in US dollars and I have not been charged any fees by my credit card. |
