What is the best beach to visit from a cruise ship that rents chairs and umbrellas. What can we expect the cost to be for transportation and rentals. Also, considerint Sting Ray City. What would a suggestion be for doing this from a cruise ship - or perhaps combing Sting Ray City and a beach visit.

Thanks.

We are arriving in GC Sept 28 with carnival cruise. We will be there 7-4. we would like to do both De Soto stingray city and Kaibo beach. Can you give me some transportation ideas to do this please.

BTW, love your site! you saved me alot when I went in 2005 and recommend you to anyone going to GC!

2 CI Dollars per person each way using the local bus service, which is wonderfully fun and full of locals and fellow visitors. There is all access to Seven mile beach. Just ask the driver to stop at their favorite beach. Remember to get picked up going back the correct way as the driving is done on the left side.

For Stingray City you should arrange pickup from a tour operator, either by boat or by land transport to the boat.

Welcome to the forum bobpeghome Smile ,

A trip to the Cayman Islands just isn't complete without a trip to Stingray City, and it's very easy to do that in the morning and then go to a beach in the afternoon.

We highly recommend taking the Stingray City trip with Soto's Cruises for very personal service on a small boat with a lot less people than the boats that the cruise ships book for their guests. You can read all about Soto's if you go to this thread Soto's offers a 9:30 a.m. two hour trip for $35 US, and they will pick you up in their van at 8:30 a.m. practically right next to the terminal where the tender from your ship will drop you off.

After the trip, if you want to be dropped off at the beach instead of back into town, Soto's will take you to the Royal Palms beach, which is a great place to hang out until you want to go back to the ship. They have a wonderful outdoor bar which serves great lunch fare (you can see it on our live web cam at the top of this page).....and they do have chairs and umbrellas for rent. I have read that the chairs are free of charge, but I'm not sure about that. I thought I had heard that they charge $5 for the chairs. I know there is a cost for the umbrellas....I read $10 for that, but I'm not positive.

Then, when you're ready to go back into town for a little shopping or just getting back on the ship, you can catch a cab from the Royal Palms or take the public bus. I think the cabs are just a few dollars....

Have fun and be sure to ask if you have any other questions!

Char

Welcome pnwsubs.

For that kind of thing you would be better off calling Living the Dream Divers or Cayman Private Charters.
The latter offers many more options now but I have not updated it yet, although you will find all their contact information.

Be sure to request your Activity Guide discounts and have a wonderful vacation.
