I just phoned the activity guide people yesterday, spoke to a guy by the name of Joe, who was nice enough to spend over a half hour on the phone with me. He even offered to help me plan a few activities, like the horse swim and the sting rays, but we're a pretty big group and don't want to separate. He said the only place that allows cruisers anymore is Comfort Suites, unless you want to get packed in with hordes of people off the cruise beach excursion, royal palm or some other busy beach.
Anyway, he said just go to the bar in the back of Comfort Suites, tell them you're an Activity Guide member, they let you use the pool, beach, hot tub, all for FREE! I called the bar, and it's called Stingers, and they confirmed everything Joe said, just go to the bar and tell them your an Activity Guide member and you pretty much have the run of the place. Now they don't have beach chairs, so we're planning on bringing our own fold outs, some are just bringing towels. They said if we showed up with a bus full of people, like a hundred or so, then that wouldn't fly, but for just a dozen or so they said they'd be more than happy to have us there, probably buy a few drinks and snacks. I'd rather pay the local prices for food and drinks, have a pool and a beach, so this sounds like the place, around a mile or 2 from the dock, so we'll probably cab. Said they use mostly big vans there for cabs, hold up to 12 people. Joe gave me the number for a guy that doesn't charge the cruise ship rates, much higher evidently to jump into one of the cabs lined up where you get off the boat. Believe his name was Chris, said it was all in here somewhere anyway.
So that's it, I hope it helps you as much as it did us. I also wanted to thank Joe again for all his help and the time he took on the phone, must be flooded with calls but sounds like he really cares. Great site, by the way, I found the whole menu for Stingers on the website in the dining section search thing, very cool!
