We are visiting on a cruise in late Aug with a group. Looking at renting a vehicle for a bit of a self drive tour - and then to spend a few hours on a beach, probably at Royal Palms.
Can anyone comment with a proposed itiniary, and how hard or easy it will be to find our way around? Not worried about the right hand drive - but more of being able to have productive time with the time spent driving around.
What places are a must see in such cases?
Thanks for your help!

If your coming in on a cruise you won't have alot of time. Royal palms is great! You could also walk around Georgetown, look around or shop. Lots to do there. I always need a week or more when I am there. So much to do and lots of R&R.

Renting a car on a cruise is a waste of time and money.

Agreed. Renting a car and driving around an unfamiliar Island while under the time constraints of a day visit is not practical. When your ship arrives in Grand Cayman you will have to wait in line to be tethered to shore and wait in line again to be tethered back to the ship. That process alone will use valuable on-Island time. Then there is the time going to and from the rental agency and filling out the necessary paperwork, Insurance etc. Grand Cayman is a great Island for driving around so save that for when you plan an overnight stay for a week or two. You will love Royal Palms and have a great day in the sun.

So is this the concensus on this isse? not worth the time?
We want to do a land / beach sightseeing - not interested in the water activities.
It seems there are no companies that offer this type of thing - so we thought it might make more sense to rent a vehicle.
I know there will be little time - our ship is in from 8 AM - 4 PM.
How long would it take to drive to the east end, and back, with stops along the way?
We do want to spend some time on the beach at Royal palms as well.
