Coming by cruise ship in March, 2008. Wanted to do a catarman to snorkel, but it ends up taking the entire day. Where can we go to snorkel from the beach to see the beautiful fish (have own gear)? I was thinking we could rent a cab or take a bus? and then go to one of the hotels (Comfort Inn) and do parasailing, plus RELAX and enjoy the beautiful beach. Is this possible? Really want to see those fish!!!

vacationqueen,

If you are really looking for a beach to snorkel from, Smith's Cove will be the closest to you. There are many things to be seen. You will be even closer (walking distance) to Eden Rock, but there is no beach. I don't know how crowded it gets when there are ships in - someone else may be able to help with that.

I really like Cemetery Beach, but like knees said, it is farther. It is also a pretty good swim out to the reef, but it is well worth it. Another further option would be the Turtle Farm area. There is a nice entry at Cracked Conch/Macabuca. It is a really interesting snorkel. It drops off very fast. You would be able to see things, but not really that close up. There are usually tarpon down below, and we saw an eagle ray there. However, there is no beach. You would be able to sit on a really nice deck overlooking the water to have food and drinks after your snorkel.

I have never taken a taxi, so I don't really have a concept of how to coordinate all that. I'm sure someone else will know.

Is there another beach besides Starfish beach where you can see starfish?
