This is a link to a very cool little site where you can go and see exactly which ships will be in Grand Cayman on any given day

Wow, Joe! It looks like there will be six ships in port on the day that I will be there! Star Princess is scheduled to be there from 12 noon to 7 PM. How many tenders can dock at one time? This sounds like shore time might be drastically reduced. Thanks for posting this site.

Ruth

Don't worry Ruth, they can handle it. We get as many as 8 sometimes. George Town is a huge harbor with many tenders. If you have activities booked in advance, be sure to tell your cruise director so they can give you a higher priority.

I just checked the port schedule and found out that we will be there on a very light day. Only two ships in port on the day we arrive. What are the advantages to being in port on a day when there are not as many ships docking?

Hi YoureMoving - Welcome to the forum.

With less ships there are less people at all the beaches, restaurants, Stingray City, etc. Are you planning on doing a Stingray City trip? You will save money by doing that directly with Soto's Cruises before you arrive. Wink

It looks like the ships only make port for one day in Caymans - is that due to expense or limited space? just wondering............

Hello E&N,

I'm pretty sure that's the norm. I've been on a couple of cruises and the way they usually work is that they travel at night and then usually when you wake up in the morning you are in a new port. Some don't come in until late morning, but I feel so sorry for them because their day is so short! Then they all leave late afternoon and head off to their next island.

Wow, thank you for that link. My wife and I will be on our honeymoon and as luck would have it, the day we dock (hopefully, we will have cooperative weather!) there will only be 2 ships there. I hope all goes well as the Cayman's is why we booked this cruise!!! (Fingers crossed and knocking on wood!).

Will keep cruising the boards to see what we can do!

Cheers

Welcome dondosae1,

You will find all the information you will need right here in these forums.... Our members are happy to share their experiences and will help you with any questions you might have..... If you've never been to Grand Cayman before I highly recommend taking the Stingray City excursion with Soto's! This is something that is unique to Grand Cayman and is a wonderful experience!!

...Also you can print out these coupons before your trip and have them ready when you leave the ship.....

Have fun!!

Thanks for the calendar link. Looks like the Navigator of the seas (Our ship) will be docked on the same day as the Freedom the the Seas. (8/23)

I would guess we would want to book our adventure to snorkel at stingray city soon, correct??

Hi beckypu -

Yes, you should book it with Soto's ASAP. You can contact Kerry by email . Mention Activity Guide and request Barrier Reef as your second stop, weather permitting. Very Happy

Confused

Thanks Joe,

We are taking our 4 teenage kids on our Wedding/Honeymoon cruise and are VERY excited about the Grand Caymans!! Hopefully the weather will allow us to come in. KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED!!! I understand that the island local time is 1 hour ahead of what Royal Caribbean ship time will say (EDT) I am somewhat confused and want to make sure we have some time to shop on our way back to the ship for the day. What time do you suggest us booking our Stingray city trip to allow shopping afterwards? Or do they only have 1 time?

Thanks again for helping us out!
