Hi,
Looking to bring my clubs to play North Sound and possibly Blue Tip. I noticed rate for North Sound is $160US incl. cart, Blue Tip is $200.

Has anyone played the courses lately? Are they worth $150-$200 or are they really $40 type of courses? Is it worth bringing my clubs and playing a few times when we are there? Any comments on the courses would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Nick

Welcome nicholascanada:

Starting in February, Activity Guide will no longer be promoting, recommending or endorsing any of the golf courses associated with the Ritz, including North Sound.

We will continue to exclusively endorse the spectacular Jack Nicklaus course at Britannia, located at Cayman Beach Suites (formerly Hyatt) where our readers and members will receive special discounts at the already lowest priced course on the island.

For complete details, photos, contact information, reservations and discounts, see the Britannia Golf Course topic.

Thanks Joe, but I would appreciate anyone elses comments on the three courses. Blue Tip, North sound, and Brittania.

I dont want to lug my golf clubs all the way there to find out I should have just left them at home.

Any comments on these three courses would be appreciated. Are they worth playing, and specifically North Sound as it looks like its 18 holes and the best of the bunch. Thanks again.

Nick

Nick,

Don't know where you are staying, but it looks like the Blue Tip course is only open to Ritz Carlton guests and owners of the Ritz residences, so that may narrow down your choices.

nicholascanada - In the opinion of the editor of Activity Guide, who publishes Activity Guide Magazine and this forum, the best golfing value in the Cayman Islands as of February 1st. when our discount with NS expires will clearly be Britannia at Cayman Beach Suites. I have played there many times and it is one of the most beautiful and challenging courses I have played anywhere in the world, including many of Florida's top courses such as Doral.

With all costs, including carts, gratuities and discounts offered to Activity Guide members factored in, Britannia is clearly the most affordable course in the Cayman Islands, particularly for non members.

Additionally, Britannia has a wonderful and surprisingly affordable on site restaurant with views of the ocean and lake.

Britannia offers a spectacular course outline, designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course has all the natural challenges and hazards of a traditional seaside or links layout. On some holes, blind tee shots, pot bunkers, and two-tiered greens test the golfer. On the fifth hole, the tee shot must carry over the Caribbean Sea, while on the breathtaking 562-yard hole nine, three different shots carry you over water hazards.

The Britannia course is unique in that it can be played two different ways: as a Championship course or as an Executive course. Britannia will challenge every golfer from novice to pro!

The Executive format consists of 18 shorter length holes: 15 par 3s and three par 4s (par 57, yardage 2,759, slope rating 83). The Executive course is set up for play on Sunday mornings, with tee times available from 7 AM to 9:30 AM.

They offer superlative service and eagerly welcome anyone to play at their course. You don't need an "IN" to play there because everyone is considered a valued guest and respected customer, no matter where they may be staying or who they may know.

If you are seeking feedback for courses or any other establishments not recommended by Activity Guide, I regret that this is an inappropriate venue for such discussions.

My advice to you is to bring your clubs and enjoy the wonderful course and friendly welcoming staff and golf pro at our choice for the most highly valued golf course in the Cayman Islands: Britannia.

If you would like feedback or opinions regarding any other Activity Guide recommended establishments, please feel free to ask. As far as this topic is concerned, I feel it has run its 'course' (pun intended). Very Happy

Have a wonderful vacation!
