Just have to say, that with the way the economy is latelythat now, more than EVER is the time to treat ourselves, get some much needed sun, fun, and rum and GO ON VACATION!

Everybody has bills, and the bills will ALWAYS be there, but a week without stress, laptops, deadlines, cold weather or snow, and news 24/7..........and filled instead with crystal clear blue water, loved ones, beautiful, warm sun, stingrays to kiss, fish to follow, wonderful restaurants to dine in, botanic gardens to enjoy and take the one millionth photo of a blue aguana who has permanent spots in his eyes from the cameras, Boastwains Beach to say hi to turtles in every size, Butterfly Farm to be entranced by butterflies landing on your hand or just flying around freely all around you, listen to a BFM sing about the island we love, and drink a rum punch or.......anything, while looking at that ocean..........well, it's a necessity..........it'll do your heart good....make a memory and is SO worth it!

Just my two cents worth.........and money well spent.

Celine

The way I figure it, Celine, is that if I spend 4 weeks in Cayman during the winter, I'll save bundles of cash on our utility bills here at home!

you never know Knees....hope it turns around soon. I just remember a much beloved uncle who put off going on a first cruise until this or that or the other....and never made it...early heart attack.

Some things are just priceless and wonderful memories are one of them.......and in Cayman we've made many and look forward to many more.

we're down to one income here...quit my job a few years back, and I can do without a LOT....but NOT Cayman!

As for the inheritance thing...if your kids are like my mom's kids.....I'd a WHOLE lot rather have the memory of my parents enjoying what they worked for, than money when they're not here.........and I'm sure yours are the same......'course wouldn't mind both.......................I'm not crazy.

CONGRATS on hubby's retirement!

When it comes to inheritances, I've always told my Dad: "If you want to save all your pennies so I can have it when you're gone, I think that's a GREAT idea, but if I was you, I'd spend it!"

Celine
Reading your post here you wrote in October, I have to agree, there is so many things to cut back on due to the poor economy, but taking a Cayman Vacation is NOT one of them! I told my husband, "how much sooner would spending money on our semi annual Cayman Vacation put us into poverty?"
He said I was right, a Cayman Vacation once or twice a year is "Mental Floss" and is very, very important to dealing with the other 48 weeks in the year!
I LOVE THAT MAN! kiss

I agree--we would really have to be in desperate straits to give up Cayman. We might eat out less, or at less expensive places or find a less expensive place to stay (which we have done) but it will really be a sad day when we have to give up Cayman. (We've been going since 1969) But for many, I think that they don't even have those choices to make. Times are very tough for many.

Shelly :-)

Celine....you sound like our kids...they want us to enjoy our time while we can...so many people our age are either sick or dead....and we're not that old. Although it may not be Grand Cayman this year which we love but we must and will do a vacation.
