Hi,

Here's a few reasons...

over-crowded

disorganized

grumpy employees

English as a second (third, maybe) language

land on time and sit of the ramp an hour waiting for a gate to become available

Still, it's for a good cause, so just grin and bear it!

Happy travels,

DS

I agree with DS--mainly overcrowded from my point of view --and can be long lines at security--and long walks between gates

However we have been doing it for 30+ years and we also just grin and bear it.

We were lucky to fly direct one year and that was heaven and once went thru Tampa and that was a pleasure too.

But Cayman is well worth it--it's not bad enough for us to decide to go somewhere besides Cayman

Shelly :-)

Yes, going through Miami can be a pain. But if you're going through Fort Lauderdale, I have one word of advice when you get off the plane: RUN!!! split

I just noticed you're down to three days. Have a great time, and take mental notes so you can post a trip report!

I'll be flying back to the Brac in the morning. Tried several travel agencies to get a good flight plan but didn't like anything I found. ... NOT very good fares, and anything-but-direct flights, some including several flights with long layovers on connections! I worked with Priceline (for the first time) and booked a non-stop flight from Indy to Tampa, then booked one of Cayman Airways' specials from Tampa to Cayman Brac. Departure time for trip (Indy) 10:30 AM, arrival time (Brac) 6:30 PM..... and that ain't bad, considering some of the other offers were up to 23 hours! Note that I didn't go through Miami, which I, too, dislike.

You can get on Spirit and Cayman Airways mailing lists of specials by going to their websites. Both fly out of Tampa.

I'm researching our spring vacation for next year and we can only get American Airlines or Air Jamaica (which I will avoid) I dread the thought of going through Miami.........

Been doing it for 35+ years and though we did go thru Tampa once and had a direct flight once, every other year has been through Miami. At least if you go thru Miami and miss a connection, there might be another flight that you can hop on to get to GCM---so that would be a benefit.

So I guess, just grin and bear it and look forward to the great time in GC

I think I remeber that you stayed at Spanish Bay and that you liked staying at an all inclusive, didn't you? So where are you going to stay this year?

Shelly,

Yes, I remember your posting about Miami. Admittedly so, I am not a person who enjoys connecting flights....spoiled from direct flights. Although we did connect this year in Atlanta on the way to GC and it was a breeze. No matter what, I WILL have to grin and bear it or stay home. Wink Wink I don't plan on staying home. LOL

Actually this year we will be trying a new destination, Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed although Aruba and Grand Cayman are my favorites. We are planning on Curacao in April......from what I've read people compare the water on Curacao to that of Grand Cayman. I do love the constant tradewinds of the ABC islands.

Grand Cayman will happen again and so will Aruba.............just not this year.

By the way, is that you or North Side Sue whos husband has season Packer tickets? I checked other postings and could not find it.

It's not me--I think it's Sue.

Sure surprised that the Bears beat the Packers this week!

I'll be interested to hear how you like curacau--My husband would like us to find a new island that is not as busy or crowded as GC. But I don't want something more expensive either. So--back to cayman we go--I am definitely a creature of habit and it's so easy to go back to the same place.

I'll be sure to post a trip report on here...........Curacao is not supposed to be that crowded. I won't book until Feb. or March.......I get great deals if I book around 6-8 weeks in advance.

Hey, we were in Green Bay on Sunday.........2nd row in the end zone. Have a picture of me and Paul Hornung. Jump Jump Jump

I can't begin to tell you how upset I was with the Bears/Packer game. bigun bigun Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I would never hesitate going back to GC.........we did love it.

Hello Shelly We are headed to Cayman in a few weeks ---saw your interest in Curacao and wanted you to know that it is, to date, our favorite island! There is so much to do there, the people are wonderful, and the snorkeling is grand. My expectation is that you will find it less costly than I expect to find Grand Cayman. When there we have stayed at the Marriott, but there are many other nice places to stay and there's a lot of island to explore. I hope you will give it a try. Our plan is to go back at least once every two years!

TMasing670 wave

It's me Knees that has the interest in Curacao............you will love Grand Cayman........it is so wonderful.

I wish there was a way you could send me some information..............since you have only one posting, I don't think you have PM privliges. I would love to know more..........and also to see what are the best excursions and beaches. Palm dancing rockbed Snorkel

Possibly you could post some things on off topic forum.

No matter where I go in the Caribbean, I so look forward to our trips.......except for the packing. Mr. Green Mr. Green Wink Wink

I was interested also---do they only have hotels there? Or are there condos too? I think Knees is right--we should start something in the off topic section
