I emailed US Air and they never responded. Does anyone know if you are allowed to lock your luggage now. They have special TSA approved locks that airports are able to open but I wanted to be sure you can use them before purchasing? Thanks!

Hi LisaF

I have been using the TSA approved locks for awhile. No problems. I prefer to use them to keep things from opening accidentally.

Good luck

Shelly :-)

I was under the impression that the ONLY way that you can lock your luggage is if you use TSA-approved locks. Otherwise, I think you run the risk of them breaking the locks if they feel they need to look inside.

We've used TSA-approved locks for several years now, which we bought at Target.

I believe that if you lock your luggage with a lock that is not TSA approved, they can cut the lock off if they want to check your luggage.

That's what happened to our luggage on the way back. No problem on the way down, but they were gone (cut off) and there was a little note inside that the luggage had undergone a "security screening".
