I don't know what that site is--TOS don't let you post websites---although I thought that somewhere along the way you could post them for airfares. Not sure about that.

I can tell you that our reservations were made online at a different site than yours and we will have 3 different airlines but they did send us paper tickets for that.

Normally when we book thru American, it is electronic--but that's only 1 airline.

Maybe someone else will be able to be more helpful

Shelly :-)

I don't know the site you were using, but I have found that you can often get the same low rates directly from an airline's website. I Googled air from Lubbock to Cayman and it looks as if Delta flies into Lubbock. Give them a try for starters. Delta does not fly daily into Cayman, but they definitely have service on weekends.

If you go directly to an airline, use the website since you will be charged a fee for booking through a person.

Electronic tickets should be no problem - even with multiple carriers. Print copy of your receipt and flight information.

Have you tried the major airlines--American does get you to DFW from Lubbock and then to GCM

I agreewith PRT. I usually check the online travel agencies, but then book directly with the airline online if possible. Sometimes if I cannot get the combination of airlines easily and the fares are good I might book thru an online agency.

My own feeling is to stick with the major sites.

Sometimes airlines surprise you. We should fly out of Syracuse, NY - and the prices in this market are generally high. We have driven to NJ, Albany, NY etc...to get much lower fares. When I was researching fares to Cayman for our August trip I was pleasantly surprised to find that air from Syracuse was not only the cheapest but offered the best connections. Clearing customs in Charlotte will be a big plus Laughing

You have to do your homework.

WELCOME and good luck with your bookings. Electronic tickets are no problem, but I'd be concerned about the possibility of lost luggage with changing airlines 3 times.....maybe you can just take carry on?

I booked AA last July for a trip in about 8 days...I got r/t w/taxes for $350.00 per person so I jumped on it - I am leaving out of JFK (NY) and have a connection in Miami with a 3 hour layover - which while it seemed long - seemed like a good idea being that it is winter in NY right now and I envision delays always.....I booked it at the aa website directly and did an e-ticket. Hopefully all will go well..

We flew on American in January ($317.50 rt from Chicago) and had a 2 hour layover in Miami. Had it not been for lack of a crew on the MIA/GCM leg, we would have missed the plane by a half hour! So 3 hours sounds good.

I agree with Sue--3 hours is a pretty good time for a Miami layover--on the way down it's good in case of delays in your departure and on the way back it's good because sometimes the whole immigration, customs, and security can take awhile. I'd rather have extra time then get tense about missing the connection.

Sounds like we should fly in January--what great airfares for the 2 of you. Our son's fare from St. Louis over christmas would have cost about $1200 on American--fortunately we had mileage that we could use for him

Shelly,

Both American and CAL were really reasonable in January. We booked with American last June because of the price, and at that time Cayman didn't have a January schedule for ORD/GCM.

But we both swore that we would NEVER fly through Miami again. Especially on American. Four legs, on-time % = a big fat zero.

I'll pay more to fly CAL from now on.

Coming back to the Brac last Thursday, Cayman Airways would not book a round trip for the dates I specified.... presumably because I was staying for six months. I tried the same dates With CheapoAir and they had no trouble, [I]and the fare was much cheaper! Same airline... go figure.

We are thinking of going to Cayman in Jan. next year instead of our usual dec/jan--fare sounds great. That is annoying that CA doesn't post their schedule in advance like the other airlines do--maybe they will this year. We did love it the year before when we took CA----the only plus about American is when I can get mileage tickets, and then we just put up with Miami and the delays.

I understand about the AA miles, Shelly. Been there, done that. Honestly, though, I have just changed my CitiCard. Forget American miles, give me no annual fee and cash back!

I know a number of people who are doing that now. I'll have to get past those free trips first---We have been pretty lucky in being able to use our miles unlike a number of our friends who never seem to be able to use theirs. Now that we're retired it's easier to use them because we have more flexibility.
