Hi All!
I am looking for suggestions on the Cayman Islands. I am looking at a possible trip for me and my fiance in late 2010, but have never been and do not know anyone who has been either...

1. What are the "Best" hotels to stay at?
We want: oceanview, on the beah, walking distance to things to do (or at least close to pick up stations; bus, ferry), a spa and a coffee place nearby!

2.What is the trend of the weather? Has anyone gone later in the year...October? We usually go to Mexico in October and the weather is GREAT...

3. What are some activities that are a MUST to do?
I was reading about Stringray City, which sounds excititng...What else?
We love snorkeling and are excited for scuba diving!

4. Is it hard to get to the Cayman Islands all year? I am from Chicago and read that it may not have air transport year round...can someone clarify?

Any help/feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hi Mariestein,

Welcome to CAG. I'll point you toward some resources we have that might help., as well as pass on to you some of my experiences.

For a listing of the hotels and resorts that we recommend, click here...Where you click to see recommended Motels and Resorts

We've been to Grand Cayman late in the year. The later you go, the less chance of 'interesting' tropical weather. Still, any time of the year there exists the probability of beautiful weather.

Must do things vary based on your interests. Check out our sightseeing info here, Info on Sightseeing

Are you scuba certified? If so, do some dives with Neptune's Divers or any of our recommended operators from the following... CAG recommended Dive Operatrors

As for getting here and back, the Cayman Islands have regular air service year round including some non-stop flights from Chicago on Cayman Airways on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I hope browsing these links helps. If you have any other questions about anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

DS

HI mariestein

Also check out this list of must-do things on the island

click here for must do list

There are not too many hotels on the island, but there are lots of condos which are wonderful to stay at.....most right on the beach.

I'm from the chicago area and you can easily get to Cayman at any time of the year. The direct flights on Cayman airways, however, are only during the winter season. We usually fly American and connect through Miami--Miami is a pain, but most of the flights connect through there.

Weather is beautiful throughout the year. It's always warm even in the dead of our winter.

Have fun planning your trip.

Shelly :-)
