Hi All, what an amazing website this is!!! Almost a little overwhelming, but I will start reading more when I have a little more time.

Can anyone just briefly recommend a good affordable condo or resort that is kid friendly, also some VERY EASY and SHALLOW snorkel places and a couple of kid friendly inexpensive restaurants. Want to stay on seven mile beach part of island. Will we need a car? Really just want to relax, snorkel, hit a few restaurants and maybe see a few sites.

My apologizes if the information is already here, just trying to get everything done as quick as possible. Going in the beginning of December. Also, what is the weather like in December? Heard it's beautiful there year round, a true paradise!

Weather is beautiful in Dec. You can get the occasional Northwester that stirs up the sea a bit....but our kids always liked it when there were a few waves for a change. It's always warm enough for swimming and the water is warm too even in December.

EATS is a great place for kids--We took our kids to every restaurant we would go to when they were little. We always managed to find something for them to eat. The restaurants are pretty used to families with children vacationing there.

Check the hotel search at the top of the page. There are descriptions about all the places on Joe"s recommended list

We have always rented a car --in our early visits to GC we only rented for a few days, but now we do it for the whole time.

Shelly :-)

Be sure and rent a car. Seven Mile Beach does not give you a taste of what the Island is really like. Get out and mingle with the people who live on the Island. They are wonderful people. The rest of the Island is very different from Seven Mile Beach. Enjoy.....

Thank you shelly, can’t wait to get there and see everything! palm

Weather is most important, so glad to hear its beautiful in dec. Love to snorkel fish3Snorkel Diving but not so much fun in the rain when you get out, so much better to have the sun a shinin' sun rockbed drinking typing

Northwester! Shock Shock Shock
Googled Northwester & Northwester weather, didn’t find anything but sure sounds scary! Anything special we need to pack in case the Northwester happens while we are there? Any special precautions for young children? We have two, ages 4 & 6. Great kids but they can also be a handfull at times tantrum chase

dine Added Eats to must do list so thanks for that tip! Very happy to hear the whole island sounds like a kid friendly kind of place. Our two little monsters are usually pretty good, sometimes though they get a little cranky, can make noise & don’t want to disturb other people on their vacationing times either. Palm

Checked off half a dozen places or so on the hotels search, waiting for replies now.

Anyone know how the Sunshine Suites is down there?

We don’t need anything fancy really, just something on the 7 mile beach, hopefully walking distance to some stores, shops, restaurants. Checked the maps & Sunshine Suites looks pretty close to those things, I think.

We’ll have a car too, Drive thank you too Sherry for that tip. Never drove on the left before so this should be quite the challenge! Went ahead and sent the email to Economy & got a great discount rate the same day! Can’t complain about that!

Thank you Sherry, we're going to get a car. Checked off a few Seven Mile Beach places, so just waiting for replies now. Mac

The kids make for great little minglers! jump2 jump2 I’ll bet 90% of the people we've met whenever we go on vacations has something to do with the kids, not always good but we do meet a lot of people! PalmTree2 They're always curious about what everyone else is doin, can be a real nuisance but also great little ice breakers too. ThumbsUp

Really nice people here, sounds just like what we can expect in the Caymans! So glad to have found this wonderful site with all the great discounts and so many kind and helpful people. clapping

Still have a lot of reading to do, read so much to learn, but well worth it once the vacation starts! Thanks everyone! palm

A northwester is nothing to be worried about.....just a few days of some clouds and a little windier and rougher seas---but nothing to be concerned about. I'm sure whatever you would normally bring for the kids when you are traveling would be fine--in case you get a day that doesn't have the best weather---but that doesn't happen very often. Many places have DVD players now so you could throw a few of those in--card games etc.

We've been to Cayman with our kids at those ages--and also the grandkids have been there with us when whey were that age. They always loved playing in the water, looking for shells, digging holes in the sand etc etc. We never had to do much real entertaining.....they just had fun on the beach. When our kids were young, the place we stayed didn't even have a pool and they still had a wonderful time. We brought some water toys, shovels, floats etc----some of the places we stayed had sand toys for kids, so you might want to check that out before you pack.

You'll have a great time--we've been going since our youngest was 15 months old and he's 38 now!!!

Shelly :-)

Thank you shelly, you had us a little worried there for a minute with that scary soundin Northwester thing! Will bring cards & plenty DVD for the kids, CD just in case one happens when we're there. We like doin all the same kinds of stuff as you do! BouncingLaugh

Got most of our quotes back. Sunshine Suites gave A BIG discount!
GOT A BIG OL' ACTIVITY GUIDE DISCOUNT!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (so much fun stuff to play with!)

It was not that clear in the picture but just so everyone knows, Sunshine Suites is NOT RIGHT ON THE BEACH. It's real close though, so that must be why they have such low rates and gave such a big discount. We don't mind walking 100 yds or less to get a BIG room with lots of space and a kitchen. From the pictures, they look even bigger than the Sunshine in Atlanta!

And here's another thing we stumbled across, probably the most important thing we found so far, its called -
Choose Accommodations Based on Your Vacation Lifestylehttp://www.caymanactivityguide.com/forums/Resorts-topic4929.html So helpful & real well written, Im puttin it here again for other first timers just like us. newbie We're white beach, serious (but shallow) snorkelers, so Sunshine Suites soundss just perfect for us, but I think everyone going for the first time should read it before settling on a place to stay. Who would ever guess there were so many options! It cleared up a lot of conflicting info I was seeing, and also it answered so many questions. Who woulda thought that tiny island had so many different kinds of areas! I cant hardly thank you enough for writing it!

Still lots to read typing but with air, hotel, car taken care of, the rest is the fun part. Just going through all the topics and addin restaurants and things to the must do list. Checked the topics and menus, that new lone star looks really great too! Just an incredible site you have here! clapping clapping clapping
