Just a heads up. I had reserved a table for Luna Del Mar at Kaibo for April 10. I heard from them today that they will not be having it due to Good Friday. I suspect many other places will be closed or close early for the same reason. Anyone know the rules for Easter Weekend?

They are very modest people. I believe alot of business's will be closed. Joe could really tell you. If I can remember correctly they do an egg hunt on the beach. You might check it out.

caymanbound2,

I did a little searching around the forum for an answer because people have asked about Easter closings and such in the past.

My guess is that Kaibo won't be offering their usual Friday night Luna del Mar on Good Friday, simply because it's a popular holiday and the restaurant will be SOOOOO busy. With Easter being a four day holiday in the Caymans, it is a very popular time to go out to dinner, so most restauants will be offering special menus throughout the weekend.....that kind of thing.

Have a wonderful trip!

Char

Char is 100% correct. You will find special menus from most if not all of our recommended restaurants, all of which will be fully operational on Good Friday.

Have a wonderful Vacation!

Again reminding folks that Easter is a MAJOR holiday weekend in Cayman.

Stores will be closed or on reduced holiday hours on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays and most local residents are off work. Most shops are open normal hours on the Saturday of that weekend.

There are particular restrictions about live music for the Easter weekend. IIRC there is no live music allowed on Good Friday or Easter Sunday. Plane to catch your favorite acts during a different performance that week. This does mean that music goes off at midnight on Thrsday night at the bars.

Restaurants, however, are in full tilt BUSY mode for the weekend. Lots of our favorite restaurants put out amazing brunch buffets for Easter. Even restaurants that do not otherwise offer all-you-can-eat will do so for Easter. Check with your favorite CAG restaurants and hotels to find your perfect brunch.

Many locals celebrate the weekend by camping in the eastern dsitricts. You will start to see tents going up to stake their claim to spots as early as the weekend prior.

So Easter and Easter Monday are public holidays.......Do you think that Rum Point beach area will be heavily crowded at that time with the locals on holiday? Does anyone know if the Blackpearl Skatepark will be open on Good Friday, that Sat, Easter Sunday or Easter Monday? Appreciate your feedback on this............Thank you!

Yes, Rum Point will likely be crowded.

The official holidays are Good Friday and Easter Monday. It is sort of like how the official public holiday might be on Christmas Eve Friday if Chirstmas falls on a Saturday. Regardless, much of the island shuts down.

I have no idea about what Black Pearl might do for holiday hours. Some tourism based business do keep regular hours for the holiday weekend.
