We will be arriving in Grand Cayman on Sunday April 26 and we are first time visitors. my question is how hard is it to drive from the airport to the hard rock cafe as we would like to check it out as we have been to a few hard rock cafes around the world . We would be going to discovery point after that . thanks

Welcome to the forum, smokey 483 Smile ,

There are great maps in the Activity Guide and we have them here on-line as well (check on "site tour" up above under the banner at the top of the page). Here is the map that shows both the airport and Georgetown and the harbor, which is where the Hard Rock Cafe is. If you find #11 in the harbor, which marks the Atlantis submarine, that's also where the Hard Rock Cafe is.

It's probably only about a 15 minute drive from the airport, and then from the Hard Rock up to Discovery Point, it might be 20 minutes or so (traffic should not be a factor on a Sunday).

Just curious......why is it so important to go the Hard Rock before even seeing your condo? Sunday's probably a good day to go there, though, cause there's probably no cruise ships that day, or if there are, there wouldn't be many....so less crowds.

Have fun with your planning and just ask if you have any other questions.

Char

I'd recommend getting settled in first, and then venturing into town

Be sure to check the cruise ship schedule before heading into George Town to check out HRC. Especially for a first visit downtown, a cruise ship day can be frustrating! The Port Authority website will list cruise ships expected each day.

Both the CAG and the rental companies have good maps that'll get you anywhere you want to go.

Enjoy your stay.

After two dozen visits to Cayman, I have yet to venture into the HRC and expect this to still be the case after my next two dozen visits. Sorry.

To each their own I guess. I do hope you enjoy the other sights, sounds and activities Cayman has to offer as well.

Cheers,

Are the shops and the eating places open on Sunday in Georgetown? I went into Georgetown on a Sunday and it seemed like everything was closed.

I was thinking the same thing, but I did check and the Hard Rock Cafe is open on Sundays. The shops are not.
