PostPosted: Tue Feb 17, 2009 2:14 pm    Post subject: Two Questions about Drinks

1. Is the tap water safe to drink? Both at the hotel/condos and the restaurants?

2. What are the rules regarding "open container" -- Can you have an alcoholic drink walking along the beach? Or do you need to stay within the property lines of a restaurant or hotel?

Thanks!

BTW, are there any tricks to using the "Search" option? I try to look up basic questions before having to ask them, but I can't seem to ever narrow it down enough to be helpful. So I apologize if my questions above are redundant. Thank you for all the help! This forum is great!

TaraBeth - The water is fine to drink. I wouldn't recommend drinking too much ocean water, but the water out of the taps are fine. In regard to open intoxicants, I have seen people with plenty of beverages on 7 Mile Beach. As long as you're not causing trouble, you should be okay.

We were there about three years ago -- our senior year in college a bunch of us took a cruise and Grand Cayman was one of the stops. We visited Stingray City, ate at Hammerheads, and did a little bit of window shopping, but that was about all we had time for. This time, we'll have much more time to explore, as I feel like we didn't really get a taste of what Grand Cayman really has to offer. We can't wait!

I went away for awhile and then came back. The search function has changed, and I'm having a difficult time finding things, too! I hope someone has a good tip. As of now, I just go to the section of interest and scan through the titles and hope I find it!

I forgot to say Congrats in advance....

Our resort has always been a few yards off the beach so we normally bring a small cooler down to the beach, snorkel gear, towels and sand toys for the kids, find a good spot and cop a squat. Pretty laid back and you are free to roam where you please within reason. Obviously aren't going to walk up to a resort you are not a guest at and use their chairs or facilities but there is nothing wrong with sitting on the beach where it is less crowded or less rocky.
