Heard something about a fun place that's somewhere in West Bay, where iguanas (not blue ones -- the common ones) swim across a pond/lake and come over to beg for food. Anyone know what Lake that is, or what part of West Bay might be a good place to look for it (the Cayman atlas shows qiute a few ponds and lakes in West Bay)? My DGS would love to see them -- he wants to be either a herpetologist or paleontologist when he grows up. (We will be going to the Botanic Garden as well). Thanks.

It is at the Shangri-la bed and breakfast. The lady inn keeper feeds them day old bread about once per week. We stayed there in July, and she let us know when she was going to do it. I got some pics of it. It was quite funny. There were about 10 iguanas that came running up.

Thanks -- will look for that next trip. We did get our fill of seeing iguanas -- turned out that they keep some in a cage (reasonably large) at the first resort we stayed out and feed them carrots. DGS got to go in the cage to do that. Saw lots more of them around the golf course than we've seen before (guess the population has increased with the resotred grass since Ivan). And had another good visit at the botanic Park to see the blue ones -- several were out wandering about.

If you're ever on Little Cayman, there's a place west of the airstrip where they built some streets, but never built any houses. It's like an abandoned development. (Is it still like that?) When we rode bikes up and down those streets, the iguanas came running out of the bushes at the sound of the bikes going by, looking for food. It was nuts. And they were big, too!!!!
